As one of Dr. Lyons' patients, I experienced the highest level of compassion, kindness, wit, encouragement and assurance that I will beat cancer. He was simply the best. I send my deepest, most heartfelt condolences to his family, his partner and to all who came to love and appreciate this lovely human. May he rest in the love of God. And may we all carry a bit of him in our hearts as we continue our lives in this realm. Dr. Thomas Lyons was a shinning example of how to be. How fortunate we are to have known him. God bless everyone who knew him.

am devastated by the news and passing of Dr. Lyons. Dr. Lyons was so much more than a doctor- he was my biggest advocate, supporter and friend. Dr. Lyons was one of the brightest, funniest and most genuine people I have ever met. He was a good listener who really listened. And genuinely cared. His easy going nature and smile could put you immediately at ease. Dr. Lyons was a beautiful soul. I can not fathom the pain his family is experiencing and my hearts go out to them- they will forever be in my Prayers. Not a day will go by that I don't think of Dr. Lyons and all he did for me and how he made the world a better place for anyone who knew him. I am thankful I had the opportunity to know him and will miss him more than words can say. The world will truly be a sadder place without him.

I am a current patient of Dr. Lyons and just found out hours ago of his passing. I am absolutely devastated for his family, for the many friends of Tomás Lyons, and for all of his patients. I was diagnosed several months ago with an aggressive subtype of breast cancer which left my husband and I terrified...until we met Dr. Tomás Lyons. Dr. Lyons made my way much easier these past few months. I thought of him as a compassionate friend who really truly cared about my well being. There have been many moments where I have felt deeply comforted by the thought of having this trusted doctor and kind human on my care team. My family all knew him by name, even though they had not met him in person and my mom often repeats back to me: Just like Dr. Lyons told you, you will live a long, beautiful life. I am so grateful to the parents that raised this beautiful and brilliant man and trusted doctor to so many, and to have crossed paths with him during this difficult time in my life. I will never forget Tomás Lyons and what he has give me in the way of extraordinary, compassionate, evidence based medical care, and hope his encouraging words stay with me throughout the rest of my journey. My sympathies to all who loved him and whose lives he touched.

My deepest and heartfelt condolences to to the Lyon's family and those who loved him. Although I did not know Tomas well, he was clearly a gem- humorous, serious, engaged in all that life had to offer and always concerned about the welfare of others. He will be sorely missed.

My sincerest condolences to Tomas' family. There are not enough words to describe the tragic loss of my dear friend and colleague. He was beloved by many for his kindness, compassion, humor, and generosity. His patients adored him and my heart hurts for them. Tomas was a brilliant man with a charming wit and a beautiful brogue that I could listen to all day. He dedicated his life to serving others in the most inspiring of ways. First, with his many academic achievements that led him to a successful career as a medical oncologist. Tomas had it all as a doctor-- it felt like at such a young age he had already mastered both the science and the art of medicine. Every interaction was filled with compassion, patience, understanding, and knowledge. He was admired by both his patients and colleagues for these attributes. Tomas was also a true global citizen and was passionate about this role. He firmly believed in doing one's part to make the world a better place for everyone. He worked especially hard for those patients and individuals who are most vulnerable. He inspired others to do the same. Tomas- you've inspired me in so many ways and I know you will continue to do so. My heart breaks for your family. I am grateful to them for raising such a beautiful human being. I will never understand why you were taken from us so soon. Love you, friend.
