Doris Fong Chang

Doris Chang passed away peacefully at Somerford Place in Stockton CA, on July 9th 2020, at the age of 77. Doris was the 11th child of 12, born November 29, 1942, to Wilbur (Men Coon) and Alice (Yek Yip) Fong, in Sacramento, CA. Doris grew up and went to school in Sacramento before marrying and settling down in Stockton CA in 1967. She worked at Weinstock doing hair and then stayed home to raise her children Matthew in 1973 and Kimberlee in 1980. After her children got older she went back to work as pre-school teacher's aide at retiring from Brookside Elementary in 2000. Doris was also an early active member of Chinese Christian Mission and First Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafts, bowling and her travels with family and friends. Doris is survived by her husband Freeman of 52 years, sister Mary Huey (Hong Huey), brother Ernest Fong (Jean Fong), son Matthew Chang (Sara O'Mohundro), daughter Kimberlee Chang Mendes (Mark Mendes), granddaughter Kyla Mendes and grandson Xavery Mendes. She was preceded in death by her parents Wilbur and Alice Fong and siblings Chee Soong Fong, George Fong, Franklin Fong, Adam Fong, Evelyn Fong, Edwin Fong, Lillie SooHoo and Jane Wong. The family will be holding a memorial service via Zoom on July 24th, 2020 at 4:00p. Please contact the family for an access code.
