Donald Richard Metz

Don loved his family more than anything and always put them first. He watched his Grandchildren near and far grow into amazing adults and this became his greatest joy. His gentle, giving nature also extended to family friends who loved "Pops" just as much. He was especially close to his Grandson Dorian who cared for him for many years.

Don had a quick wit and wicked sense of humor making him truly unforgettable. He was a great athlete who loved all sports, particularly softball. He fondly remembered the small town of his birth, Lonaconing, Maryland and spending time at his Grandmother's house. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures like a Red Rome apple, a good fish sandwich or telling stories with his retired breakfast club at McDonald's.

He had an artistic eye and took pride in making things with his hands, a gift from his Father. He had a youthful spirit and didn't show his age, like his Mother. He loved to share his daily life through many letters to his Brother and daily messages to his Daughter. They leave a journal of his special outlook on the world and how much he loved his family. His wonderful stories and life lessons will go with his family long into the future.

Donald is survived by: Donna Reed-Daughter and husband Thomas, Lonnie Metz-Son and wife Stacy, Denise Metz-Daughter-in-Law, Tierra Thomas-Granddaughter, Calah Clayton-Granddaughter, Dorian Thomas-Grandson, Patrick Metz-Grandson, Austin Metz-Grandson, Savannah Metz-Granddaughter, Connor Reed-Grandson, Arwen Reed-Granddaughter, Donovan Reed-Grandson, Raheem Joseph-Great Grandson, Hadley Sofia-Great Granddaughter, Silas James-Great Grandson, Annaleigh Amalia-Great Granddaughter, Gunner Murphy-Great Grandson, Wyatt Alan-Great Grandson, June Faith- Great Granddaughter, Jennie Metz-Mother and Gerald Dale Metz-Brother.  He was preceded in death by: George Donald Metz-Father and Donald Wayne Metz-Son
