Kelly Drew's tribute image 1

Daughter Kelly's poem to a humble Father who wrote many poems throughout his life I leave my space always open for you to fill in. A door to my heart never shutting. The wind sending memories through. I can still hear you. You, as our pillar, will always stand. The weathered cracks representing a great man. The talent of your love for us, every ounce used. Your presence has not escaped your children. I can still see you. You are the smiles in each of your children. I will dance for you in the rain. Thinking of the tire swing, sawdust, your boots, and coins from your pockets dropping. Your favorite chair near mom. Her hand seeking, finds ours and yours. My mind knows you will always be alive. I can see you just as clear in the yesterdays you filled and the tomorrows yet to be here. The music does not stop playing when I wake up or lay my head down. I still hear that familiar chord, "I love you" sound. It is in the walks I take, the laughs I share, the rain that pours, the sun that brights, and the air I breathe. In the hand that seeks, finds ours and yours. You have never left me. Something that is always there. The music still plays when you turn you look towards me, your lips touch my cheek.  Your in your favorite chair near me. In the hand that seeks, finds ours and yours. That hand is the greatest father. The doors is always open and windows of memories never shut. There will never be a goodbye, but only goodnight. I will always hear you, and you will never be out of my sight. In the hand that seeks, finds ours and yours. That hand is thou. The yesterday's and tomorrow's are just days after our first hello--your children's small hands in yours then and now. No goodbyes, just music I still hear playing even after I say goodnight. Our hands in yours. That hand is thou. Love you, and goodnight. No Goodbyes. Just Goodnights.
