"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4
Donald Andrew Duncan Baker, age 64, passed away on March 22, 2021 in Carson City, NV, due to complications with heart surgery. Don is survived by his wife, Liz Baker; his son, Ryan Baker; and his brothers, Tim Baker and Jack Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents Brent and Dorothy Baker.
Don was born on October 13, 1956 in Warrington, England, while his father was stationed there in the military. The family then moved to Texas for a short period before settling down in Stockton, CA. Don graduated from Stagg High School in Stockton, CA in 1974. He married Helene Raffetto and they had their one and only child, Ryan, in 1979. They lived together in the Bay Area, CA, and Issaquah, WA, while Don was an accomplished salesman. As some would say, he could sell sand at the beach. As life happens, Don and Helene divorced, and Don later married Liz Alejo. Don and Liz spent time living in Salinas, CA, Brentwood, CA, and lastly, Reno, NV. During this time Don was a partner in Seal It International. Don and Liz spent many wonderful years together traveling, dining, enjoying life with friends and family, and raising their dogs.
Don had numerous hobbies and good stories that he shared with many people. He enjoyed sports, camping, fishing, traveling, music, good food, and laughing to the greatest Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm episodes. A few trips included: fishing in Alaska, traveling to Europe with Liz, attending the Kentucky Derby, vacationing in Hawaii (where in the 1980’s people thought he was Tom Selleck), and going to Giants, A’s, and 49ers games with his son, Ryan. He was a great baseball player in his younger years and had the nickname Big Bopper during his rec league softball days in Pleasanton, CA.
Don was an incredibly special person who was a friend to all and a believer in God. To list all his attributes would take too much time but here are a few: loving, devoted, helpful, funny, intelligent, witty, charismatic, and friendly. As many witnessed, he knew how to light up a room. He enjoyed making other people happy and cared deeply for his friends and family. Don was a devoted Christian and through the Lord, he learned to give and help others. He was a humble person who didn’t ask for much help but was always there when anyone needed him. He will be greatly missed.

My best buds father Don had a very special character that was one of a kind to me. His ability to put smiles on faces and keep them there throughout the day was almost unbelievable, until you spend time with him. He really elevated the excitement and joy when we got to share time doing things like camping and watching ballgames but most epic for Brunch! He would somehow ensure that our group were the kings of the restaurant and he made you feel it too. My favorite memories were early on with he and Liz and dogs when they lived in Brentwood and we would go fishing on the delta and end the day playing games like Boggle and Balderdash. I am grateful to have learned by watching him as he was the first adult who I recognized turning a bbq into a confident triumph. I will miss how generous he was with his ability to make you feel his uplifting character. Most important to me was that he would always find time to have one on one conversations to see how I was doing but also to get a scoop on Ryan and to make sure he was staying humble, upbeat and out of trouble. Always appreciated feeling that he loved Ryan, especially through tough teen/young adult times. I feel like I should end this with a call I am sure a lot of us can appreciate. When the sun is setting tonight I will be releasing an "Elmer" for and with you

Uncle Don was the best! He always made me and my Family so welcomed in their home when we would go visit. Uncle Don was very close with my daughter Brianna and always asked about how she was doing. Our family is very saddened by this loss, but we known he is in Heaven cooking the best food. We love you Uncle Don and we will see you again in Heaven. Love the Lopez Family
