Debbie Green
August 16th, 1953 - January 6th, 2021
August 16th, 1953 - January 6th, 2021
From Longview, Washington Went to Kelso High School Studied Occupational therapy at San Jose State University Studied Public admin at SFSU Occupational Therapist-Loss Prevention Analyst at Hospitals, Clinics, Private Contracts Lives in San Rafael, California Married to DJ Pierce for 41 years In attempting to write Deb's obituary, I really am at a loss for words. I am hoping that some others of her friends and family can add to this memorial to share the large narrative of her full life. She was a wife, a sister, an auntie, and a friend. She loved her home, her pets, her travels, and her adventures. She loved all of nature- was equally at home in the snowy mountains as she was on the sandy beaches. She loved to dance- always grabbing DJ whenever a slow, sweet song played or jumping into a county line dance or 2 step. She loved to live along the edges- putting her heart and soul into whatever she did -- biking, hiking, camping, skiing, and snorkeling. She lived her life in recovery and kept those principles to the end Her last few years were a source of pain as she was diagnosed with MS and then needed a number of surgeries on her back, hips, and spine. She was diagnosed with breast cancer from which she did recover. When a diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer was made- she had radiation and chemotherapy but was not able to bounce back from this one and slowly became bedridden and needed full-time assistance. Her having to be isolated due to Covid-19 during this year was just heartbreaking. DJ had little ability to get support or relax outside their home and Debbie could not have her friends and family next to her in this transition While I am sorry to have had her leave us, I knew that her staying in that body was only going to be a source of pain for her. So- we said goodbye to that part of her and know in our hearts- that she is now free to be spirit and her essence will live among us forever
