Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.
Dawn Contreras, age 67 of Monroe, Michigan, was received into Heaven on October 31, 2022. She was a loving mother who is survived by her children Alea Williams, Emerson Williams, and Angelina Contreras; as well as their respective partners Mike Akers, Sarah Williams, and Hugo Ceron. Dawn is preceded in death by her parents Allen and Loreen (King) Kinne and sister Marlene (Kinne) Tayeh.
Having attended Ida Public Schools, Dawn was loved by many friends and family. She had an infectious laugh, wonderful sense of humor, and demonstrated an aptitude in music. As a hobby, she participated in music competitions and won many awards. Continuing this passion into adulthood, she proceeded to teach herself a variety of musical instruments. Throughout her life, she played the clarinet, guitar, banjo, pan flutes, pennywhistle, ukelele, piano, hand drums, dulcimer, and sang. She turned this passion into a career of creating and teaching music.
Once Dawn had children, she changed career tracks toward property management. Her attention to detail and keen organizational skills allowed her to excel at successfully managing hundreds of apartments. Beyond her career, though, Dawn was a dedicated mother who sought to provide her children with many opportunities. She encouraged their growth and exploration in the arts and sciences. Her children were a source of pride with whom she maintained strong relationships with, up until her death. She will be missed by her children and many beloved friends and cousins.
