Mementos

Although David is no longer with us in the flesh, his spirit, memory, and example will always be with us.  God in his awesome nature placed him on this Earth to plant seeds in our lives, to nurture and to love us.  He has now entered the Kingdom of Heaven where he continues to watch over us, to laugh with us, to love us.

David Anthony Snow came into this world on August 21, 1962 in Washington,    D. C., he was born in Providence Hospital.  After a courageous battle with cancer, David left us peacefully at his residence in Houston, Texas on Wednesday. July 8, 2020.   He made his transition with his wife Valerie and his daughter Courtney by his side as they had been throughout his entire battle with cancer.

David or “Tony,” as his mother affectionately referred to him, was the son of David C. A. and Frances R. Snow, grew up in Washington D.C. He was born into a supportive Catholic family, where he was christened as a child in the Immaculate Conception Church.

David’s personality is most often described as friendly, humorous, charming, and loving.  A personality perfect for the hospitality industry.  After attending the University of the District of Columbia David began his career with Marriott International as the doorman at the Washington Marriott in Georgetown. He is described as having a sociability; a never-ending willingness to serve and be hospitable to everyone that he met.  “Mr. Snow”, “Snow”, “Snowman”, “Big Dave”, “Tony” was special. He possessed an innate skillset to make everyone he met feel comfortable which earned him the title “Mr. Hospitality”. After moving to Houston in 2006. David continued his career with Texas Western Hospitality.  He held various roles including Regional Manager, General Manager and most recently Director of Sales until June of 2019.

“Mr. Hospitality” was born to assume the career that he loved.  He used his used his love for the hospitality industry, to “pay it forward” in a humanitarian effort to make sure that those in need were assisted as best as he could.   Perhaps he always remembered the words of his grandmother “Nana” she would tell him “Tony, just be a good person, just help somebody!”.

“Snow” was a great listener, never boastful, a motivator, an encourager, and had the ability to read and determine the character of the people he met upon first glance.  He was a genuine communicator, an organizer, a man with the ability to bring people together.  He was amazing at intuitively being able to connect the right people with the right people.  It was like he was putting a puzzle together, and he had all the pieces.  He was a man whose family and friends felt safe in his presence.

David is survived by his mother Frances R. Snow, his wife of over 30 years, Valerie Terrell Snow, a daughter Courtney Simone Snow, son David R. Paul (Jasmine), grand-daughter Emory A. Paul, niece Brittani M. Lee and nephew Brandon M. Lee.  David the poker player, the cigar aficionado, the fashion coordinator and lover of music and food will be greatly missed by a host of other relatives and a plethora of friends and colleagues who knew and loved him.

Preceded in death by his father, David C.A. Snow, his sister Diane E. Lee and his beloved “Nana,” Grandmother Johnnie Mae Sickels.
