Loved Ones

Dave was born in Illinois to David Dale Sr. and Joan Schroeder. When Dave was a boy, he, his parents, and his sister Wendi moved to Michigan and later the family relocated to Anchorage, Alaska. Dave spent many years in Alaska raising his children and working as a computer programmer. He loved Alaska and told many stories of hunting and fishing with his father, young children, and many friends. He later moved to Washington State to continue working as a computer programmer for Boeing. Dave found his lifelong passion working with computers at a young age. He often told the story of making a computer at his high school science fair, this was when computers were merely an idea. Dave joked with his children that he was not tech support, but he loved assisting his children and others with technology. Dave met his beloved wife Patrice, who was living in Calgary, online in a chat room. It could not be more fitting for a man who loved technology than meeting a woman through his computer. Dave and Patrice were married in 1999. Dave was a man loved by many, he brought joy and laughter to everyone he encountered. He was also a grand storyteller; he would spend many hours telling stories to everyone he met. He spent his time after retiring from Boeing living life to the fullest. After retirement he and Patrice moved to Cotacachi, Ecuador. Together they worked and set up a nonprofit to help local Ecuadorian children attend school. They ingratiated themselves in the local community and built so many wonderful friendships. Dave was an avid traveler and spent many months each year traveling around the world with Patrice and their many friends. He was happiest in the kitchen, creating recipes and feeding friends, family, and many people in the local community around him. Cooking was more than a hobby for Dave, it was a passion. Those who were lucky enough to share a meal he created will never forget how much love was inside every bite. Our hearts will always be touched by the original "Part Time Saint and All-Around Nice Guy". Donations can be made in Daves's name to a charity of your choice.

Dave Schroeder was an Extraordinary man, he was amazingly generous with his time and his abilities; and on top of that he was was fabulous fabulous cook, no actually a chef. To be in CotoCatchi , to be in Dave's kitchen at Dave's table was something that was not to be missed. Gloria andI would travel thousand of miles for those opportunities. My wife Gloria and I crossed paths with Dave and Patrice in China on the road. and again in south east asia. and in Equador many times. when Patrice and dave new on the loose in California they'd stay with us. David could take over a room and be entertaining informative helpful and imaginative; he had a story for every place and every occasion. Dave and Patrice were world travelers in the entire spherical sense. there are very few places that they haven't been and Patrice continues by her self now alone. It was with a family type sorrow and shock that I heard of Davis death; we were on a cruise with Dave and Patrice in Europe just months before, Patrice remains the professional travel agent that she has always been. David you were like an older wiser brother to me and you will remain a continuing guide to my life. Christopher Walker Sacramento
