We'll miss David's wonderful sense of humor and his unique expressions. He and Bob flew to the big airshow in Oshkosh many years ago and stopped to see Bob's family in Vail, Iowa. When David met Bob's 5 foot tall sister, Teri, he said "You must be Bob's little toy sister." David put her shoes inside his shoes to "see if they fit" - and she looked all over the house for them before she discovered her shoes in their "nest." David was a wonderful, caring, intelligent person and he'll be greatly missed. He was a good friend and a good man. Bob & Sam

I am sorry to hear of David's passing. I worked for him at Gates until he retired. I enjoyed listening to his stories about Denver and he was one of the most knowledgeable people I've known. We shared stories of Denver street names and house styles/types during our lunch hour walks in the old south Denver neighborhoods. He was a great historian of railroads and military and of course Gates history. He will be missed. Prayers to his family.
