Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed, and very dear.

David (Dave/DJ) Joseph Jacobson, 35 years, passed away on Friday, June 21st at his home in St. Augustine, Florida.

David was born in December 1988, in Fountain Valley, California to (Mother) Michelle Jacobson and (Father) Jon Jacobson. He was the oldest of two children. The family moved from Fountain Valley, CA to Eagan, MN, to Laguna Niguel, CA, and finally to Cedar Falls, IA where David spent most of his childhood.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 2007. David then proceeded to go to the University of Northern Iowa and Hawkeye Community College. In 2021 he graduated with a degree in HVAC from First Coast Technical College. Most recently he'd been working at SAFE (Security and Fire Electronics) in St. Augustine, FL where he lived, close by his mother.

He loved hanging out with his family, traveling, and living in Florida where he went to the beach, fished, and enjoyed the nature. Always willing to have a great conversation, David enjoyed talking with those closest to him regularly, reading science fiction novels, watching super-hero movies, painting, gaming, and working out.

David is survived by (Mother) Michelle Jacobson (Parcell), (Father) Jon Jacobson, (Step-Mother) Tami Jacobson, (Sister) Jen McDonald, (Brother-in-Law) Matthew McDonald, (2 Nieces) Amelia & Madelyn McDonald, (Grandfather) James (Jim) Jacobson, (Grandmother) Maxine Veatch, and many more family members & friends.

He is preceded in death by (Grandfather) Daniel Parcell & (Grandmother) Patricia Parcell, who welcomed him with open arms in the next world.

He will be missed dearly by us all and will be forever in our hearts.

There are not enough words to fully express our heartfelt thanks for your love, kindness, support, comforting words, and kind expressions of sympathy you've extended to our family during this difficult time of loss.

LOVE, The Family of David Joseph Jacobson

. The first time I saw you I was applying for a job at pizza hut. I saw this set of beautiful blue eyes across the counter from far away. I didn't know that the man attached to those eyes would take me on a wild and crazy 15 year ride and become the best friend I would ever have. The memories are in the thousands, but here's a quick list that most won't understand, but I know you do... Hanks. Nights in the woods behind the Apts or at the jacuzzi. John adams and my orange county library card that is still suspended to this day. Your crazy hypotheticals. Universal Studios. Making me ride the hulk roller-coaster three times in a row till I puked. The malfunctioned Harry potter ride. City walk and the girls with the horrible names. GooGoo Dolls. The armed security guard (still my favorite and most frightening story I've ever lived through with anyone). Jazz music with a glass of ice water, and fan on high before bed. The phouse room with the stolen TV. Fishing in Daytona when neither of us knew how to fish. The arcade on the Daytona boardwalk. July 4th at my dad's with the magic juice and the kid we wanted to kill. You taking me to my dad's the night before he passed and you laying your he'd on his tummy. You comforting me the next night when I found out and cried in your arms till I finally passed out hours later. I don't know what I would have done without you that night. "Druthers" Late night cigarettes on the porch and the great conversations that accompanied them. "Whatcha think of those apples?" More than anything though, I cherish our nightly conversations, especially in the last year. I wish I still had you to talk to about this crazy election. The things that have happened since you left would blow your mind, and at every turn I imagine what you would be saying about it. We were truly two lost souls swimming in a Phish (lol) bowl. Now I'm wading in a velvet sea by myself. Yet, oddly, I feel your presence everyday. Literally, everywhere I go now there's a Coldplay or The Weeknd song playing. So, if that is of your doing, please keep watching out for me when you can. I need it. I miss you so much. Love you. "Good night, my friend". Ps. I kept the poem I made you write me for my 49th birthday, except I've modified the first and last line: How I miss you, oh my friend. Times are tough but on the mend.  Remember the good, remember the bad. It's what everyone wishes they had. I'm not a poet,  but I can rhyme. Partly why this is not on time. I wish you a day so great. One you will not hate. I'll love forever, Like none ever. How I miss you, oh my friend.

I went to high school with David and traveled to Italy in the same group. It may have been years ago but we had some fun memories. So sorry for your loss!

Fast facts: When David was younger, he enjoyed playing the tuba, robotics, and drama. He did a brief stint in karate, and liked to bike around all over the place. Fun memory that we both loved and enjoyed thoroughly was hanging with our cousins, and jumping on their trampoline, going to the pool, and playing pool at our grandpa's.

What is your favorite memory shared with David?

My favorite memories of David will be those we shared with our family through the years, with my two girls, with our parents, cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents- there are too many to pick just one. One thing though, we spoke almost on a nightly basis over the phone over the years, on and off of course, arguing, laughing, sharing our lives with eachother- I'll miss our talks and his voice the most I think. My dear brother, my only brother, he was one of my very best friends- and knew me better than most. Cherished memories now fill the void his loss leaves, and I will miss him dearly. Until we meet again ♡
