Dudu was a very close friend to me. I remember meeting him when we both just had our first babies, about 14 years ago. He was full of wisdom. I learned a lot from him. But he also had a great sense of humor, with a wonderful laugh that came directly from his soul. He was bold, constantly standing up for what is right, even if it put him at risk. We enjoyed lots of walks together, family events, shabbats at Chabad NP, time studying Torah together, playing pickleball every Sunday, coffees, beers, brunches, and much more. He was also a great leader. He would bring together teams to tackle problems as needed. I remember how quickly he helped organize the Jewish community after October 7, 2023 to make sure Israel had what it needed while also fighting anti-Semitism at home. He was a bridge between all the disparate groups in the Jewish community in the Bay Area. Bringing together Jews from different parts of the Bay Area, but also from different communities- Israeli, American, European, Sefardi, Ashkenazi, religious, secular, and so on. Even in his final years he kept active, bringing people together and making things happen. He kept positive and energetic in ways I could not understand. He was a true hero and an amazing friend.

It was always a special moment when I saw Dudu at Chabad of S Mateo. His persona exuded confidence, happiness, Jewish pride, and love of the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. When I would call him up to the Torah for an aliyah, it was clear that he responded with reverence, awe, and joy. Dudu took his responsibilities at the Sinai Memorial Chapel not just as a job, but as a way to give to the local community. Every person who interacted with him had only praise for his compassion, professionalism, and empathy. This was holy work and he excelled at it from what I've heard. In shul, Dudu was always happy to chat with anyone, crack a good joke or two, and listen attentively to whatever story you told him. It was my privilege to call him "adoni" when I wanted to talk to him. Even during the difficult months during treatments, Dudu continued to display a positive attitude all the time. It is hard to believe that he has left this world; our community has lost an irreplaceable light. May his neshama shine brightly on his family and may Hashem bring comfort to those who were closest to him. Zichrono li-bracha.

Dudu and Shoshi tied the knot twice! ❤️ I had the honor of attending an intimate ceremony with Dudu's family at San Francisco's City Hall in 2007.

I have known Dudu since we were 11. He was an amazing person, kind-hearted, generous and the best of friends. You could hear his contagious laugh a mile away. I already miss him terribly. The Habib family came to visit us in Belgium in December 2021. We had such a great time! The last picture is from our recent trip to the States, in July 2024. I will cherish these memories forever. Rest in peace, my good friend. Our life here will never be the same without you.
