Loved Ones

Please help us celebrate the life of David Clark, beloved husband of Connie Clark, and father of Sammy. Dave was born and raised in Portland, was one of six children and unkie to many nieces and nephews.

He grew up in Portland, Oregon, and attended Madison High School where he excelled in music. Dave was an artist, a musician and collector. He played the ukulele beautifully, painted what his brothers and sisters referred to as “outsider art” and never found a beanie baby he didn’t love! He was a constant source of fun, humor and happiness, and he will be greatly missed.

Dave worked in Loss Prevention for the Fred Meyer Corporate Office in Portland, Oregon. He found great satisfaction in his work and the “family” of colleagues and friends he met in his 30+ year career.

He was dedicated to his work which connected him to many friends in local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. He was able to balance a stressful career with humor and light-heartedness, putting all around him at ease, and resulting in the sincere respect and trust of his family, friends and colleagues.

Dave passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Monday May 10th, 2021.

We are here to celebrate Dave’s life and the memories of how he made our own lives better, brighter, and happier. Each of us has something to share. A moment when Dave did or said something that was hysterically funny, touching, ridiculous and possibly infuriating! We encourage you to share them here so we can all celebrate his wonderful life.

I lived just up the street from the Clarks growing up, and am very saddened to hear of Dave's passing. He and I hung out at times and had a fun time in band and stage band together. I really liked Dave and sorry we did not stay in touch. My sympathy to the family.

I never met Dave personally, but he would answer the phone, most times that I called. He was a great asset to the company and his department. I am thankful for all of the laughs that he and I shared about some of our times at Fred Meyer. My heart goes out to all he touched.

Dave you have been missing. You have been on vacation in my mind but it is time for you to return. My heart has felt the emptiness that you have left behind. I walk past your cube and feel the emptiness that has been left. I miss your quick wit and jovial presence. I could always come to your cube when I was lost and needed your guidance. When I had a customer who needed immediate assistance you were always there to pull out the stops and solve the problems. Every Christmas my Grandma and I awaited the precious goody gift package of sweets. Grandma was so excited when I would bring home the package filled with love from you, Connie, and Sammy. I never saw the goodies after that. Your creative memos at Christmas time reminding us all to chip in and come up with our culinary favorite dishes and build a pot luck like no other. It never disappointed. In addition the dish you would bring was always first to disappear as your skills truly shined. Dave, your heart failed you on May 10th but it never failed me. Your compassion, humor, understanding, dedication, and above all your love shined every day. I miss you my dear friend, it just isn't the same without you. Connie and Sammy, There are no words that can even begin to help during this horrible time. When we love someone so much and they leave us suddenly the pain is immeasurable. Please know that Dave (Dad) meant so much to so many. Thank you for sharing Dave with us through all these years and allowing us to be a small part of his life. May you be comforted by your memories of all the good times, good music, and out of this world good food. With blessings always Denise

I always looked forward to seeing Dave walk into my shop and making me laugh. I'm so glad to have known Dave. I'm going to miss his kindness, jokes, and the way he listens and give advice. I will miss you Dave.

Dave was a great guy and will truly be missed. He was the most helpful person at Fred Meyer and his knowledge and expertise is a huge loss. He was so good at his job and had such a passion for it. He was the type of guy that everyone loved and he would give you 110%. I have known Dave for years and I will miss talking to Dave. He was a great guy and I pray for his family both at home as well as his work family during these tough times. Send another
