On June 3rd, Dave peacefully passed away in the same way he cherished living—surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his beloved father Doug. Dave’s story and spirit will be carried on in the hearts of his mother Phyllis, wife of 38 years Sue, brothers Scott and Ross, children Adam (Lauren), Holly (Chuck) and Drew, and grandchildren Sylvie and Max. He was a kind and gentle man of faith that enjoyed investing in the lives of others. His humor, thoughtfulness, and warm presence will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the ProMedica Hospice Memorial Fund.

I came across an Facebook memory today where Dave thanked me for encouraging him. I was so touched, but it was he who made a positive impact on me. I knew him in 3rd & 4th grade on South Holland; he also lived right behind us then. We moved in 4th grade Didn’t see him again till college when he lived in Walker Hall & I lived in the sister dorm, Barton Hall. So fun to see him again there! And then saw him once in awhile in the city when we both had our first jobs! Then I saw him again when I came to his house to buy some tables. Got to meet his wonderful wife Sue. What a great guy - one of the truly good ones!

I was lucky enough to work with Dave, who is affectionately known to me as 'Pallay', for many years; traveling domestically and abroad. We have shared many laughs and good stories. I will forever remember his love for his family and his big heart. My sincere condolences; forever in our hearts.

I had the good fortune of working with Dave at Meeting Tomorrow. We were the "old guys" on the team and quickly bonded over similar work histories and love for family. One of my favorite things to do with Dave when we worked together was to walk to Starbucks; not so much for the beverages, but more for the often deep conversations in which we would engage. We both had a love of classic movies and shared a lot of great conversations about our favorites and recommendations. My co-worker Ashley and I had the chance to join Dave and Sue for dinner and a movie, and that was such a wonderful evening of friendship. Even after I moved away, Dave and I kept in touch via Zoom and email, and I always loved the Sylvie and Max photos he proudly shared with me. I hope they both grow to know how much he loved them! Family was everything to him, and he had SO much pride in every member of his family. I am going to miss Dave so very much but consider myself blessed to have known him, blessed to have learned from him and blessed to always call him my friend.

I worked with Dave at Meeting Tomorrow and he was one of my favorite people to talk to. His love of family emanated from him and seeing new pictures of his grandkids was always a bright spot in my day (he sent a #DailySylvie email pretty regularly for a stretch of time and it's been a delight to see her grow). He was funny, humble, kind, and had such an incredible attitude and perspective on everything life threw at him. He also loved movies and you could always count on a good chat with him. When he found out I'd never seen the movie Moonstruck, he immediately brought me his DVD of it the next day as it was a 'required viewing;' I, of course, complied :) It was a true pleasure working with him; he made an impact on those around him and will be incredibly missed.

I had the privilege of working with Dave in various capacities over the past four years at Meeting Tomorrow. From the moment he stepped in the door, he was a warm and comforting presence to everyone. He had more experience in A/V than probably anyone at the company, yet he was always humble and eager to learn new things. Dave was a people person, and it was awesome to see him shine when he would go on-site and wow customers, or when he would teach his co-workers about A/V basics. I feel like a lot of people are in the A/V industry because of the equipment and their passion for it, but Dave always struck me as someone who was in it for the human connection. His top priority was always making people comfortable and ensuring a smooth show experience for all involved. Maybe that's why he always had such a great attitude. Dave was a Bulls fan, but his son Drew is a Bad-Boys Pistons fan (as am I), and I always loved hearing Dave tell stories about Drew's Piston fandom, or when Dave would bring a question to work that Drew wanted to ask me. I'll miss you, Dave <3

I worked alongside Dave for three years at Meeting Tomorrow...directly alongside as his desk neighbor. Dave was one of the kindest and most thoughtful teammates I have ever had. He was naturally curious, generous with his time and expertise, and incredibly funny. In many ways Dave served sort of a parental figure for me in those years (and probably to many of us on his team). He gave great personal and professional advice. He was never too busy to talk through a struggle or to encourage me to take a professional risk (he even bought me a glass that still sits on my desk today that says "there is no crying in business"). Dave had an incredible impact on everyone around him and he will be greatly missed. My sympathies to Dave's family and friends.
