We’d like to thank everyone for sharing their memories of mom. It’s comforting to read about the happiness and impact she had in the lives of everyone around her. We especially appreciate all of the help from our Aunt Theresa, gathering the information and pictures for the tribute, everything you’ve done for the celebration of life and to Aunt Cindy for other arrangements. None of it would’ve been possible without you guys. Rest in peace mom and know that you are loved and missed.

I remember that I was dealing with something with my mom, as usual, and I was emotional and crying, and I went to stay with Aunt Darla for a while. Aunt Darla and Brandy gave me my first pair of skates. They said Duran Duran on the side of them. It was actually the only pair of skates that I have ever owned. Anyways, as we were sitting there on Brandy's bed, Darla said, "You can tell me what you're feeling, but you don't have to". And Brandy said, "Here's my bear that keeps all secrets. So, you can share all of your secrets and feelings, and the bear will keep them all safe for you". I can also remember being snowed in at Aunt Darla's house to the point that we couldn't get out. We couldn't push the door open or anything. You don't know how much I miss Montfair. My husband tried getting the wagon that was there for me, but they had already sold it. There are just so many amazing memories that I have there and with Aunt Darla. It's such an honor to have been one of the last people she spoke to right before she passed. It also means so much to me that she gave me some of my dad's pieces that she found during our last visit with her. Aunt Darla... You are truly, truly loved, and will be missed dearly!

Aunt Darla will always hold a very special place in my heart. Some of my favorite childhood memories are from time spent at her house, sitting out in the yard, playing with my cousins, laughing, and feeling completely happy and at ease. Being there always felt fun and welcoming, and a lot of that was because of her. She was always kind and friendly, the kind of person who made you feel comfortable just by being around her. I’ll never forget her delicious Watergate salad—it was a favorite of mine, and I know Tim would've loved it too if he’d ever had the chance to meet her in person. I’ve loved seeing the photos of Aunt Darla throughout the years. I didn’t get to see many pictures of her when she was younger, and it’s been really special to see those moments of her life now. I’m thankful that Aunt Darla and I stayed in touch over the years, and Tim and I were able to FaceTime with her back in November. Those small moments mean even more now, and I’ll always treasure them. Though she’ll be deeply missed, I’m comforted knowing her spirit is now free and at peace. She was a wonderful aunt, and I loved her very much.

Aunt Darla was my husband’s aunt. She was always very kind to me. She always reminded my family (my husband - Don, our daughter - Lily, and myself) how much she loved us. Darla was warm and welcoming when I joined the family. I wish I could have spent more time with her. The last conversation I had with Aunt Darla, (via Facebook), was on Christmas Eve. She wished me and my family a Merry Christmas, and told me that she loved us all. This is a great example of how kind her heart was. I loved watching the video slideshow of all the beautiful pictures of Aunt Darla over the years. She had many people who loved her. Rest peacefully, Aunt Darla. I will miss you dearly.
