I'm so very sorry I missed your virtual memorial service. I'm having a hard time and I miss you so much. You were my BFF and I don't even know how to say goodbye. So many unanswered questions. I miss you everyday! You always made me feel better. We laughed, we cried and we always listened to 80s music when we hung out. I'll never forget the day I met you... You looked at me and said "you are going to be my best friend" I thought you were crazy for saying that after just meeting. But you were so right! You are my best friend. I'm getting a tattoo in Aug to commemorate you. You had the biggest heart of anyone I know. Life wasn't always easy for you. You had risen above so much. You are an amazing nurse. I was so jealous that you got to the NICU before me, but I was so glad I talked you out of ICU. You really truly loved your job and made some really amazing friends while there. I'm greatful for all the time we had together at work both on 7N and the NICU. We could go months without seeing eachother but always picked up right where we left off, like time had not gone by. I'm so greatful I got the chance to be your bff and to have gotten to know what a truly kind and caring person you were. I still can't believe you're gone. Just like that, a hole in our hearts. You were loved by so many, family, co-workers, patients and friends! I will never forget you! I love you BFF!!

It takes a special kind of person to be a nurse, especially a neonatal nurse. That’s who Danielle was, a person who cared about others, even if she didn't know them. Those she knew she cared about equally. She adored her nieces and nephews, loved her brothers, sisters, step-brothers and step-sister, and cherished her parents and step-parents. I’ve known Danielle since the first grade. We were in the same class together, the same reading group where we would often distract each other from our tasks with laughter and other things first graders do. Her sense of humor shined through to adulthood, thankfully. She always had something funny to say at just the right moment but never mean spirited or unkind. About 7 years ago I was going through a rough patch, finally deciding to give up alcohol. Danielle and I usually only spoke when her brother, my best friend, was in town from back east or a position overseas. When we did see each other we always had a good time catching up, usually at a Percival family event I was invited to attend. It was unusual to see her outside of the group setting but during that difficult time in my life she knew I needed a friend who didn’t judge and could relate. We met for lunch sharing some similar experiences we had but mainly she just listened as a good friend should. I didn’t realize it at the time she was also going through a hard time in her life. I wish she had let me know that at the time… but maybe that was God’s design… maybe she was just doing what she did best… caring for others. Her kindness meant so much to me and I’m so grateful for her friendship. She will be greatly missed. Until we see each other again, Danielle. Brett M.
