I came across here, this place created lovingly by Daniel's family, after so much time of missing Dan and not knowing where he went. Firstly, my genuine compassion goes to his family, and all those who knew Daniel for longer than I did, shared more, lost more. I cannot begin to imagine your pain. Still, I am hurting. And I did, so so bad, when he vanished. I last saw Daniel almost 10 years ago. We met during my time at Warwick University, in Leamington Spa. Even though it was a short time, he took a big place in my heart, it remains reserved for him. Dan was a person with such a big heart, carrying so much trouble, reluctant to share or burden anyone with it. He was caring, kind, perceptive, funny, gentle. Modest above all. He often lifted me up, when I myself struggled with depression, I hoped and tried so bad to support him too. We laughed together, Fed squirrels in the park, went to museums, he cooked wonderful food, read from books. He never during all this time accepted quite how much he meant to anyone. I miss you Dan.

Dear Daniel It’s been a while since you last called. A while since we both spoke. So I’m writing in the hope To hear, just a bit of your advice, Your knowledge and opinion, most valued, On many things, that would be nice. I’m at a loss on films and books, On what is best to watch and read. Those areas in which you have A great expanse of expertise. On plots of Star Wars and the Universe of Marvels, I am confused on story lines, and on specific scenes. Of how it links and works as one And what it all means. I’d much appreciate if you, Could send a message in reply. Perhaps upon the Ether Net Or a message in the sky. Its been a while since I saw your face But I hold in my mind’s eye, You ambling towards me at your fastest pace. To meet and sit, for a while and a chat With a coffee or a tea, In a cafe’s comfy chairs If hopefully they’re free. Catching up on work and life Hearing about the many you have helped. What you’ve done for those who needed, To get back upon life’s journey. Through life’s challenges and darkest days To find a place, a path Perhaps some peace. I’d love to go, back across the world. To the sights and sounds of Japan you lived and loved so much. To America and family or some old and ancient places. So if you’re free, I could take you with me It was in my thoughts, That we would go one day. I now understand our ancestors and rituals, Celebrating and summoning those who have been and gone. It had seemed to me a curiosity. But now quite sensible, To commune for a while, In peace and tranquillity. I have all your things, your treasures and treats. Things I don’t want, But would never let go. If you call you can have them. But life’s such a strange thing, What you wish for is oft out of reach And for what I want, there seems no hope. If you’ve got a moment, in your journey cross the Multiverse, It would be great to hear something, or maybe just see a sign. Till then, I’ll remember the good times, and not the bad For now, till when we'll meet again, lots of love Dad
