- Update, 7/18/21
- Hi all- Daniel's immediate family will gather for a private, small memorial on July 21st, the one year anniversary of his death. Wherever you are in the world, we welcome you to commemorate Daniel’s life with a moment of silence, a favorite song, or your chosen way at 7 pm that day. We invite you to continue sharing stories and photos on Daniel’s Keeper website (here) or Facebook. Forever grateful to all who comforted and cared for us over the past year as we have learned to live with this loss.
- Original info, August 2020 :
- Due to COVID-19, we are currently not able to gather in-person to celebrate Danny’s life with his far-reaching web of family and friends. That being said, I am missing the opportunity to be with all of you and hear what you remember about Danny. In the couple weeks now since Danny died, you all have shared stories, sent photos, and recommended books he gave you. That, along with the cards, meals, snacks, flowers, care, and gifts, has helped me and my family tremendously. Until we can meet in-person, we wanted to create a space for all of you to see and share in those stories and memories.
- On this page, you can find photos, videos, stories, and more.
- Please check the "Events" page for information on a Day of Remembrance for Daniel on September 5th in lieu of a large in-person memorial.
- You can send things to me by clicking "message," or post pictures and stories directly to the main page. Please only send/post things that you’d want Daniel’s really sad, grieving family to see (this is my way of guilting you into not being awful and sending rude or hurtful things)
- Please let me know if you’d like any pictures that have you in them removed and I'll take care of it ASAP.
- Daniel's obituary can be found here: http://www.returntonaturecolorado.com/obituaries/ and here: https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/alamogordonews/obituary.aspx?n=daniel-james-gallagher&pid=196600365 .

It's been two years and a month since Danny died. I miss you so much, Danny. I'm sharing a link to videos from Danny's ska band, Juggernuts, with some of his best friends at his high school graduation party - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbztvmb6-7aSRZ9SSWXc2lJWLIHmC8vaV And here's a poem that Danny wrote, probably around 5th grade, about beans: The Bean Rebellion (Daniel Gallagher) It all began one frightful night When pots of beans was all that was in sight The family had just sad down to a good Bean feast Everyone was eating like a prehistoric beast. Little did we know, the beans had hatched a plan, They were gonna ambush us, they were Hiding in the pan, The beans were organized, they Held toothpick weapons, They had inflated balloons as Makeshift zeppelins. And so they attacked. They jumped out of the pot. They spread all around us and Violently fought. They pricked us with toothpicks, Dropped old rotten cherries. They jumped around our heads Like miniature fairies. And then to the rescue, came Fluffy the dog. He wolfed up the beans, As greedily as a hog. The beans were gone, but We weren’t very happy, The rebellious beans were gone, but our stomachs were Empty.

Remembering my friend by listening to many of the songs that defined our friendship. Music was always a part of our times together. I remember fondly Dan learning to play songs we liked just so that we could sing along together. On a stage, in a small room, or around a fire pit; those were very special days. Rest easy mein Bruder

Dia de los Muertos Will now have a significant tender spot for me. I’m setting up an ofrenda.

When we were younger, Danny made things seem possible I had never thought of before. In ways that were subtle and, I'm sure, unintended, I let myself be more curious and a little braver because of the things I saw him explore and achieve. The world is still just as strange and interesting as it was before, but I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't learned it from him. Thank you.

Dear Dan, We are thinking of you and all your family and friends as we mark one year since you left this world. Of many memories, one rthat we remember well is the 2000 family reunion your parents hosted in Alamogordo. What a fun weekend that was! Loving you always, Aunt Paula and Uncle Mark
