Daniel conducted operations that included but were not limited to routing clearances of obstacles and rivers, installing of firing systems for demolition and explosives, constructing defensive and/or fighting positions, and detecting mines. Daniel spent over 3,000 hours behind the wheel of the Buffalo (mine protected vehicle), and Husky (landmine and IED detection vehicle) making him one of the most experienced, knowledgeable, and well-rounded soldiers to do so. His efforts aided the engulfing humanitarian mission, allowing the coalition forces to regain the trust and respect of the Iraqi population and overall success of the 890th Engineer Battalion’s mission.
