Memorial

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dan Moroff, a beloved husband, father, brother, friend, and chiropractor on October 12, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife, Shannon Moroff, and his cherished children: Jay, Ella, and Max Moroff, as well as his stepson, Joshua Anderson. Dan also leaves behind his brother Dirk, sister-in-law Judith, and sister Debra Moroff.

Before his career as a chiropractor, Dan was a talented baseball player. He was drafted for professional baseball by the New York Yankees from Valencia Community College in 1977 as an 11th round pick. Dan played for the Yankees organization for several years until he had an injury that led him to chiropractic care.  His love for the game continued throughout his life, and he carried his passion with him off the field as well.

Through his experience of healing from chiropractic care, Dan realized that he had found a way that he could help people heal.  He wanted to be of service to people and he began to pursue a career as a Chiropractor.  He later served the College Park community for 36 years at Exum Chiropractic Clinic.  Dan spent the last two years of his career at Phoenix Integrated Medical services in Winter Park.

Dan was not only a professional success but also a deeply devoted family man. His love for his family was unconditional, and he took immense pride in watching his children and later stepson grow. His legacy of kindness, humor, and healing will live on through them and the many, many lives he touched.  Dan's presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his absence will be profoundly felt.

A memorial service will be held November 1st at 1pm where friends and family will gather to celebrate Dan's extraordinary life and the joy he brought to so many.

I was beyond shocked to learn of Dr. Moroff's passing today while in casual conversation with my visiting nurse. I told her I was going to call my chiro and she asked who I see. When I answered "Dr. Moroff", she repeated the name and then asked me if hadn't died. I just looked at her in shock and said, "Dan Moroff? I don't think so;" as she looked it up online, and then showed me the announcement. I just could not believe it! For whatever reason it just seemed impossible. Dr. Moroff has been my chiropractor since 1996 and brought me through so many health issues. I trusted him completely and thought of him as a friend. We would always talk and I valued his advice and opinion. He always had a smile and was happy to see me. His humor, his kindness, his caring were always part of every visit. I am beyond saddened to learn of his passing, but I know we will one day meet again. Until then, Dr. Dan... rest in peace. My sincerest condolences to his family.

With a heavy heart, I remember the great moments with Dan. He was more than our chiropractor; he was truly like family. His knowledge and experience were unparalleled, and his commitment to his patients was like no other. He cared for my children in ways that no other medical professional has. But we will miss his smile, humor, and happy demeanor the most. Thanks, Dan...we miss you!

Dr Moroff will forever live on in my memories and thoughts as that little voice inside my head that continuously corrects my posture and form each and every day. He was my quarterback among all my doctors, massage therapists and exercise trainers. I ran everything by him for his blessing before I moved forward with any of their recommendations because he really cared and took the time to know me and my issues better than anyone else. He was by my side / on my side / always guiding me down the right path in regard to all his education, referrals and recommendations, especially yoga. I also considered him a friend as we had a lot in common. He frequented the batting cages at the same facility where my dad’s golf school operation was in Clearwater and we often talked about our travels back over to Dunedin, Clearwater, etc. to visit our family members who still live there (his sister and mom). When he found out that I worked in the field of employee recognition at the hospital, he had me send him ideas for recognizing his staff because he wanted to do more of that, which I thought was really nice. He often spoke very highly of his beloved kids - he was such a proud dad! I remember when Ella graduated from college and started working at Exum— he sent me in to talk with her about hospital internships - always looking out for his kids and wanting the best for them. After seeing numerous chiropractors, he was the only one that could figure me out by looking at the big, wholistic picture. All other chiropractors had given up on me. He and his “torture stretching” techniques brought me from a pain level of about 4 to about an 8, which is something I never thought I could achieve. He was always high-fiving me for diligently doing the homework he would always assign me —for the progress I was making. Before him, I’d have instances where I’d bend down and not be able to stand back up. And that hasn’t happened since I had been seeing him for the past 10+ years. Thank God he equipped me with the education to self treat myself at home based on whatever issue I’m having. Something funny I’ll never forget is how “facia likes to bounce” and how I was like “sponge bob square pants” — so flexible on the outside yet so gunked up internally- a total anomaly. Due to my horrible memory, he had to come up with outrageous things to make it stick so I would remember! I’m so glad I tediously documented all of his teachings, exercises, stretches, philosophies, etc. I took notes after every visit. I even have a video so I’d remember one of the stretches. I am still in mourning for my friend and extraordinary talented doctor who really cared and brought me to the state of great health I’m in today- I owe it all to him! I will always be grateful. He was truly a one-of-a-kind legend and healer in his field. My heart sincerely goes out to his family— which I continue to regularly pray for in regard to healing during this difficult time.

I first went to Exum Chiropractic Clinic in the 1980s when it was located on the corner of Edgewater Drive and Harvard in College Park. Dr. Exum was the one of the doctors there. Dr. Moroff became my chiropractor. That was almost 40 years ago. That is an indication of just how much trust, confidence, faith and belief I had in Dr. Moroff as my doctor. (It is hard to use the past tense, because it is hard to accept that he is gone.) Over the years, I have recommended him to many friends and acquaintances, extolling his skills and abilities and competence as chiropractor. Beyond his talents, though, was the way he treated everyone he met with warmth, sincerity, openness, kindness and a true interest in them as a person. He made you feel comfortable in his presence. He would always ask about my work, and we would talk about the environment and I would share some of the things I was working on. I am deeply saddened and heartbroken over the loss of Dr. Moroff. Not only was he and will he always be remembered as not only an exemplary chiropractor, but also a healer and an authentic and compassionate and inimitable human being. There is a big empty place, now that he is gone. There is no replacement for what he brought to our community and to the world. He leaves behind a legacy of healing and of love. My gratitude for having known him knows no bounds. Rest in Peace, Dr. Moroff.

My heart is heavy. I only found out today about Dan’s passing. I have been a patient of Dan’s for close to 30 years. He has inspired my life in so many ways. He always challenged me to find a natural remedy and his suggestions improved my life. He always asked about my family and remembered their names. He was such a light in my life and so many others. I will continue to pray for all his loved ones to have peace, renewed strength, And joy. Thank you for sharing him with us Patients for all these years.
