ESPN is everything a sports guy could want, and more. Hard to claim that what I've done for years qualifies as work.

Dan was absolutely a true gentleman and kind as the day is long. I worked with Dan in the early days at ESPN Radio and he always made me feel welcome and appreciated. He would surprise me so often with his quick wit and wry humor. I was blessed to have known him. Prayers to Annette and the family for their loss.

It's been a privilege for all of us to work alongside 'The Duke.' For 20 years, whether anchoring SportsCenter, SportsBeat, or reporting live from the Masters and the U.S. Open, Dan has been the gold standard for professional broadcast excellence. We can never thank him enough for his contributions to the growth and success of ESPN Audio.

My first shift on my first day as full-time staff at ESPN was to produce for Dan on the SportsBeat. He was incredibly patient with me that day. And for many many days that followed. Such a pro. And boy did we laugh. Miss you Duke.

I worked with Dan 'The Duke' Davis my first 3 years at ESPN. He was a legend and his voice was one of those 'Voice of God' types. My condolences to his family.

Working with The Duke was one of the great honors and pleasures of my radio days. As great an update man as there ever was .. and one heck of a radio call on the Flutie Hail Mary pass for BC. Prayers to all those who were lucky enough to have Dan in their lives. The best!

Of all the things we did on SVP and Russillo, The Duke raps was an all-time favorite. Dan 'The Duke' Davis was the best. Not sure he got it initially, but Ryena Russillo got him to buy in, and The Duke made it memorable. RIP to a legend. Love to his family and friends.
