Craig Dally
March 1st, 1955 - January 2nd, 2022
March 1st, 1955 - January 2nd, 2022
Dr. James Craig Dally, 66, passed away unexpectedly due to heart complications on January 2nd, 2022. He passed peacefully with his wife and kids by his side.
Craig was born on March 1, 1955 to June and Orville (Cy) Dally in Bryan, Ohio. After his father passed, he was blessed to call Paul Webster his stepfather. He was the youngest of three children. Mark is the oldest of the trio and his sister Paige was the middle child. He came from a musical family and was quite the violinist. He then went on to graduate from Optometry School at the Ohio State University, where he became a lifelong Buckeye fan and met the love of his life, Terri. They married in 1980, the same year they moved to California.
Craig was yearning for warmer weather so he and Terri made the cross country move to sunny California where he practiced Optometry in Campbell, California for 41 years. However, he was more than just an Optometrist to his patients and co-workers, he was a friend that cared deeply for everyone he met. He was very kind and generous.
Craig and Terri retired last spring and returned to Ohio to live out their dream of “living on the lake.” They enjoyed lake life as well as being surrounded by family and friends in Terri’s hometown of Cambridge, Ohio. He joined the country club & became a regular in The Elks Golf League where he will be greatly missed.
Craig is survived by his four children: Thomas (Samantha), David (Annabell), Michael, Sarah and three grandchildren: Jacob, Brooke and Noah. He was a loving and devoted father & grandpa that taught them to be humble, caring and kind.
Craig enjoyed golfing with his sons and friends, watching the Warriors with his dog on his lap, playing poker with his buddies and fishing on the lake. He tended to his tomato and flower gardens and made sure to take his wife on a date every Friday. He was witty and had an arsenal of dad jokes. He was a shining light that left a mark on everyone he met.

I was in for my eye exam this morning with David and saw the in memory of on the counter. I was not aware that Dr. Craig had passed. He has been my Dr. since the 80's. We met when he was with Dr. Slater in the Pruneyard and I followed him when he moved to be on his own. I was in to see him 1 week before he moved and he set me up to get my surgery done in Los Altos. I will miss him greatly. My love an prayers to the family.

Craig, "JC", I've known Craig since elementary school in Bryan. We were roommates at Bowling Green State University and also at OSU College of Optometry. Our sons, David and David, were also roommates at OSU Optometry. He sparked my interest choosing the profession of optometry and it has been a great career. He gave me the nickname of "Z", and we were JC and Z to all of our college friends. He was my best man when I married Sandy. I loved his mom, June, he had her sense of humor and enthusiasm for life. I will cherish all the fun times and memories we had. Prayers to Terri, his family and all the friends that he touched with his life. JC, I was hoping to reunite with you and Terri when you returned to Ohio. I wish we could have. I will miss you. Rest peacefully my friend, Z LaMar Zigler

So very sorry to hear of Craig’s untimely passing. Prayers to his whole family. I am from Bryan, was in Paige’s class, played in the high school orchestra with Craig and also went to OSU.

Our hearts are so saddened to hear of Craig’s passing! He was our optometrist-friend ever since he was at Dr Slater’s office in the Pruneyard. Our yearly exams included chats about our families as the kids were growing up, God, and how life was treating us. I never saw him without a smile on his face! He was the only doctor I ever looked forward to seeing! A gigantic hole now remains in so many hearts! Terri, you and your family are in my morning prayers! May God grant you peace and love! Sending warm hugs!

Craig was my optometrist for almost 40 years in Campbell, since we were both in our 20’s. He then became the optometrist to my children - and my now 15 y/o told me Dr. dally was “very cool”. He was such a kind person, and a patient doctor. I was saddened to learn of his passing, just as he was beginning his well-deserved retirement.
