Donald (Don) F. Martin, of Berwyn, PA, passed away in late January 2021 at the age of 67. He was born in January 1954 in Kingston, PA to Donald W. and Patricia A. Martin, eldest of four children. Don graduated from Slippery Rock University, and shortly thereafter married his wife, Ann, and settled in Berwyn, PA where their two daughters, Patricia (Trisha), and Shannon, were born and raised as proud Philadelphia natives. Trained as an accountant, Don quickly realized his true passion was working with and inspiring students as their coach, whether it was in the science labs at Hillside Elementary School, on the softball fields at Field of Dreams, or at the family farm in Fort Hill, PA. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, Gifts in Memory be made to his greatest passion, Berwyn-Paoli Area Little League. You can click on the hyperlink above or click on the link to the right of this page for more information on how to donate a Gift in Memory.

Peace & blessings to Ann & her wonderful daughters. I went 1 for 30 during my Little League years but was happy to add a little so that a new generation can enjoy this great sport. Oh yeah, & go Phils!!

One of the reasons I enjoyed coaching girls softball so much was having Don's focus and positivity on the field, no matter where, my dugout or theirs. I remember Trish and Shannon being a living testimonial to the wonderful father he had become. RIP Don, you are synonymous with all that was great about BPALL

Don was always committed to whatever he set his eyes on. He's coaching a fine team now, I am certain.

My family is heartbroken over the news of Don's passing. Truly one of a kind. Don's enthusiasm for softball and coaching was infectious. My daughter Rachel was so fortunate to have Don as her coach for the BPLL girls softball tournament team for many years. Don inspired the girls to play softball "the right way", with a focus not just on teaching the fundamentals but on sportsmanship - and on having fun along the way. There will only be one "Coach Martin". To me, Don will forever be in the third base coaching box, encouraging the girls, giving the signs, and proudly waving them on to home. May his memory be a blessing to Ann, Patricia, Shannon and to all of us who had the pleasure of knowing him.

They broke the mold with Don. There will never be another like him. The epitome of passion. A great coach, a great friend, a great person. He will be missed dearly. Broken-hearted. My thoughts and prayers will remain with you and your family.
