I got to know Cliff initially in a professional setting but we quickly became personal friends. He was a unique and passionate person who truly cared for those around him. He would check in with me often and was always there to lend a hand. He truly wanted to be a mentor and a positive influence in young people's lives. I will really miss Cliff and his company.

This certainly makes me sad to hear of this news. I’ve known Cliff since our days at St Paul when he was General Counsel. What a driven man. And sweet. But just enough edge to be interesting. We kept in touch for years but mostly just a few texts back and forth about how our kids were doing. He loved his kids so much. Cliff always made me laugh and you couldn’t help but have fun with him in your presence. He was a good guy. Breaks my heart to hear this.

I first met Cliff around 1990. Through all those years since then, I've never known him to be anything but upbeat, generous, and friendly to me. I mostly lost track of him after he moved to Las Vegas, but we would get together if I were there, or when he was back in the Chicago area, and even by coincidence on the road somewhere. The one constant in his conversation, no matter how bad his health problems had become, was his love of his children. He loved to talk about them, more than about himself and any personal health concerns, which came to be considerable. Cliff did have some bad personal times, and they got him down, but no matter what, he always remained optimistic about the future. I'm grateful that I was able to have got together with Cliff earlier this year. I couldn't know it would be the last time. Rest in peace.

Cliff was my uncle by marriage. He was always kind and generous. At every family event he made a concerted effort to connect with me, my parents and siblings. I knew he genuinely cared and was eager to hear how we were doing. I think he was most happy to know I finally found someone (and someone in his industry no less!). Cliff was clearly passionate about his career and children. I haven’t seen or spoken to him in years but have missed and will continue to miss his kindness towards me.

So sorry to hear about Cliff. I dated his sister Lauren back in college. Yes it was a long time ago. I only just found out about Cliff today because when my wife and I left Walmart tonight, we walked past where the employees park their cars. That then reminded me of the employee parking area at the Kmart on Dempster Street in Des Plaines where Lauren and I worked. The next thing I know my wife was googling Lauren's name and I mentioned that she had a brother Cliff. Then she googled Cliff's name and that's when we find his obituary. I had the pleasure of meeting him several times. He was always very nice to me and always had good advice. Also, I was always very impressed with seeing his name on the Magna Cum Laude plaque at the University of Illinois. Again I am very sorry to hear about Cliff and I wish everyone in his family well. Memorial for Cliff in a democratic school in Myanmar funded through donations. Since the coup last year, the dictatorship in Myanmar has tried to force the population back into darkness, firing tens of thousands of teachers and arresting hundreds, and massacring children in airstrikes against schools. At the memorial, 51 students were awarded scholarships for various achievements, and all the children were given books and school supplies. Any donations made to Venmo @Myanmar-Solidarity will be tremendously appreciated, and used to continue this legacy to establish more schools and support more students and teachers.
