In memory of 'THE MASTER' plumber, I'm going to miss the competition and trash talk playing golf and video games and all the beers I drank in your basement and the laughs we had ...If I was down and out Chuck would always be there to help...RIP friend

He will be tremendously missed. He taught me and so many so much. A legend to all

Not enough room on this page to summarize how much he taught me. I loved his brutal honesty, his quick wit, and his blunt way of teaching young guys a very important trade. Every picture of my work has Chucks comments and fingerprints of improvement tied to them, and the lasting lesson he was trying to convey was never as powerful as it is now. But that’s the beauty of his mentorship, we’ll always be able to carry it with us, and how it helped us hundreds of times will carry us into our future careers. The effect of Chuck Duffin may not be seen moving forward, but it certainly will be the model we’ll be chasing after. Many may not admit it at a branch meeting, but we ALL strive to be more like Chuck. The day I had thoughts of backing out of the excavation department, Chuck told me “this is what the men do”. Let’s just say he put my lukewarmness to the permanent hot setting. He never wanted us to be lukewarm on anything. Confidence in your work and your approach was everything to him. He’s helped me as a man, a plumber, a husband, son, and most importantly he’s taught me to evaluate the bigger picture of life. Do things look straight, level, plumb, professional, clean, up to code? Does it look like a plumber did it? Is there anything you could’ve done better for next time? No Chuck, there’s nothing you could’ve done better. Until next time, this is my evaluation of your eternal mentorship—-

I was the Duffin boys babysitter! We lived next door. We always played games & had a lot of fun together! May God have greeted you as a friend, Chuckie. Rest In Peace

—-double thumbs up emoji was supposed to end my first message. I’m sure that’s Chuck messing with me since the thumbs up is his trademark.

He will truly be missed, he was always willing to answer any question, his dedication to teaching the art of our trade was top notch. One of my favorite memories was a day we were working on a hotel drain together. He needed a wood frame made to pour a concrete support around a cleanout. I was tasked with building this piece. I wanted to impress him so I made it as perfect as I could put some screws in it and set it in place. Chuck tried to move it a little with the backhoe and a side came apart. There was about 20 minutes of us going back and forth about how I should have put more screws in it vs. It wasn't meant to withstand a direct blow from him hitting it with the backhoe. It was hilarious and after we all got offered free lunch from a food truck serving a sandwich called tge big pig. Great conversations and alot of fun happened that day.
