Loved Ones

Christian David Cooper, 30, Slinger, passed away on July 16, 2020.

Son of David and Susan (Manthe) Cooper, Christian was born October 10, 1989, in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He was the second youngest of five children.

Christian graduated from Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School in Jackson and obtained his associates degree from UW-Washington County before enlisting in the Navy. During his time in the Navy, Christian spoke fondly of a visit to Gibraltar, being surrounded by a pod of dolphins, and of the incredible sight of the night stars and the milky way when surfacing at night in the middle of the ocean without a single light to spoil the view.

Following his time in the Navy, Christian returned home to Wisconsin where he worked his way up to mason over the last eleven years and was very proud of the buildings he helped to construct, often sharing photos of his work with friends and family.

Christian, like the rest of his family, had a sarcastic sense of humor and loved to joke around with his family and friends. Growing up, Christian loved basketball and dreamed of being in the NBA until he was foiled by his average height and moved on to skateboarding and other interests. Christian loved the freedom of the outdoors whether it was sitting around a bonfire up North or riding down the highway on his Harley.

Christian is survived by his father, David; siblings, Jessica, Caleb, Jamie, and Collin; paternal grandparents, Ron and Pat; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Christian was preceded in death by his mother, Susan, and maternal grandparents, Ron and Marion Manthe.

There is no funeral at this time, but we will be setting up an online memorial to share photos and memories. An in-person Celebration of Life will be planned at a future date when we are able to safely gather with everyone who loved Christian as we did.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Christian’s name to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Wisconsin, https://namiwisconsin.org/get-involved/donate.

To a beautiful soul that left us too soon, may you have the peace in heaven that you so desired here on earth. May you now understand all the love you had and all of those that loved you in a way you never could before. May you shine down on us with a brilliance that you never knew existed but now use to light the path for others, your family and your friends. May you give us signs like feathers and pennies to show us you’re still with us watching over us. Thank you for your presence and all the beautiful and sometimes challenging lessons we learn together in the end we realized the biggest lesson was unconditional love, until we meet again

Christian! Though I've only met you a time or two, I've heard so many of your childhood stories--they are timeless. I'll always remember how vividly you would speak your mind no matter the subject...a trait I could learn from. Christian I'll always remember your giant smile and how you lived and laughed was larger than life. I wish you had more time. All of our love to your family.

Happy birthday, Chris. Looking back through these photos was difficult. You were a little brother to me growing up. I'll never forget the thousands of bike rides, mario party extravaganzas, and countless other shenanigans we shared. It's hard celebrating a birthday that is so close to yours. Cheers to you, I hope you have found your peace. Thank you for the memories that I'll always cherish. I'm sure you're celebrating with your mom, and I'm thankful she has your company now. Until we meet again, rest in peace, bud.
