Fierce Advocate for the Most Vulnerable
In honor of Christine Storm-Koper of Santa Rosa, California. Christine passed on April 9, 2020 at home after a battle with Leukemia.
Advocate, Protector, Guardian. Chris advocated for the most vulnerable among us through her work at care facilities, Council on Aging, Adult Protective Services, the Public Administrator/Guardian/Conservator and as a private consultant. She helped countless people during her career.
Chris was loved by many and will be dearly missed by friends, family and colleagues.

I met Chris in 1980. We lived together for 3 yrs and have stayed "sisters" for 40. Chris is my best friend. She helped and guided me thru so many hard times, I literally dont know what I'll do without her. The happy times are sealed in my memory forever, there were millions. I am so blessed to have had a friend like Cris. She didn't tell me she was sick. At the same time, was supporting me thru cancer surgery and chemo. Everyday, a text of encouragement that carried me and here she was going thru the same. That is the true meaning of selflessness. I wish she had let me help her. Chris, I'll meet you in the clouds. Soar on, breath deep, and watch over Corrie from above. I won't ever, ever forget you, I love you to the moon and back. L

I was shocked and saddened to hear that Chris gone so quickly. She was a wonderful APS supervisor-confident when I felt insecure about my cases; compassionate when I needed support; tough when it came to standing up for the vulnerable elders and adults we worked with. I will never forget Chris and how hard she worked for our community. I remember how proud she was of you, Corrie, and how devastated they were when Charles suddenly passed away. Thinking of you, Corrie, in this incredibly difficult time. Your mom was truly devoted to you and wanted the best for you always. Never give up.

I will always remember Chris as a fierce advocate for the most vulnerable in our community. She consistently performed selfless acts for what seemed like endless hours. She always spoke with compassion and never cynicism. She was a person of integrity through and through. I will miss her immensely and I’m so glad that I got the chance to know her.

When I first started working with the county, Chris approached me during one of our potlucks and asked about the "NL" sticker on my truck (my husband is Dutch). From that day forward, we always had our Dutch connection, that included many laughs. Chris was supportive, fierce and kind; I loved when her eyes would sparkle as she told a joke. You will be missed, Chris.
Carrie Healy
Chris was my first supervisor at APS and she taught me so much with her pull no punches approach. Even though I felt intimidated at times I knew she was there for me and would have my back. She was funny and sarcastic and loved her daughter. We bonded over our daughters and our dogs. She was open about her struggles to find her equilibrium for herself and Corrie after Charles died. She was a force and impacted so many and I will miss her. Thinking of Corrie and sending my love.

Chris was one awesome person. She cared deeply for people. She advocated for client needs. She challenged her staff to be the best we could be.. She was strict. She was funny. We gave her a "hard 40" (hours) each week and she watched our backs. She was taken too soon. She will be greatly missed.
