A force on the track, a mentor in the garage, racing was his legacy

Chase Pistone was born on August 20, 1983, in Charlotte, North Carolina, the heart of American stock car racing, into a family where racing was legacy. As the grandson of two-time NASCAR Cup Series winner "Tiger" Tom Pistone, Chase had the sport in his blood from birth. He began racing at just six years old, and by his teenage years had become a dominant force in Legends Car racing, winning the Summer Shootout Championship four times between 1999 and 2005 and accumulating over 80 feature wins across various short track divisions. Chase made his NASCAR debut in 2005 in the Craftsman Truck Series, competing sporadically through 2007 before stepping away from national competition. After a seven-year hiatus, he returned to NASCAR in 2014 at age 30, driving for NTS Motorsports and Turner Scott Motorsports. That comeback season produced his career-best finish: ninth place at Gateway Motorsports Park after qualifying fifth. He competed in 10 NASCAR national series races throughout his driving career, establishing himself as a skilled short track racer. After 2014, Chase shifted his focus from driving to building the next generation of racers. He founded Chase Pistone Incorporated in Mooresville, North Carolina, where he built and supported Legends and Late Model stock cars. His CP Inc. Legends team became a force on the circuit, routinely contending for wins. Chase became known throughout the racing community as a dedicated mentor and teacher, pouring his time and knowledge into young drivers. In 2024, he served as crew chief for Stephen Nasse Racing in the zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car Division. Hickory Motor Speedway held a special place in Chase's heart—it was not just a track to him, but part of his life, passion, and a place filled with meaningful memories. Those who knew him described him as passionate about racing, always in a great mood, and a joy to be around. Chase passed away on March 2, 2026, at the age of 42, leaving behind his brothers Nick and Tom, who were also deeply involved in the sport. His legacy lives on in the drivers he mentored and the racing family he helped build.

Legends Nation

Chase was not only a wheelman in Legends and Late Models, but his Chase Pistone Inc. Legends team was a force to be reckoned with every time they showed up at a track, and they usually walked away with the winner's trophy.
