I have known Charlie for years as I walked precincts many years ago with Pauline. About 20 years ago I came to love and appreciate Charlie as only someone deep in a stressful and unpleasant political campaign can appreciate. Charlie volunteered to "take care of" a proposed spaghetti dinner. I reserved the hall and from that point, whenever I raised a task of concern Charlie would reply, "It's been taken care of." Since then I have appreciated Charlie as a steadfast friend and supporter, a jokester, chef, and always one of the folks whose hugs made my day. I knew he was gravely ill and he had been in my thoughts for days so I was sad but not surprised to get the fateful call. Hours later I had the sudden full realization that I would never see Charlie again or receive another one of his loving hugs. To this day, that thought brings a sense of loss which I know is shared by so many! - From Judy Zlatnik

We have been missing Charlie keenly. Especially since the year Doug and I were both undergoing cancer treatments, Charlie had been a regular presence in our lives. Now, everytime Doug's phone rings, I expect to hear him answer it by exclaiming, "Charles!" followed by lots of kidding and laughter, but of course, that doesn't happen. It's very quiet around here.

For me Charlie was a good cool dude! Every time he and Pauline were in town Rick would always Let me know! He was always excited to see me or ask questions about how I was feeling or what projects I was working on. Treated me like a son, I'll never forget him. He is missed dearly. Raymond Barber
