Charles Forbes
January 1st, 1900 - January 1st, 2000
January 1st, 1900 - January 1st, 2000
Searching for high school yearbook photographs from 1925, I came across this person and was immediatley struck by her resolute look, and gender-nonconforming given name, especially from that time. Her biography mentions that she was no longer going to be on the faculty which only added to the mystique. When I attempted to research her, I came up empty-handed. As if Charles Forbes came from nowhere, and disappeared into obscurity almost as fast.
So today, 95 years after Miss Charles Forbes was highlighted in the 1925 yearbook, I choose to preserve her memory, and thank her, in the name of all who were trail-blazers, heroes, sheroes, role models. Her legacy is still living on -- just as predicted in her school bio.
Biography From the 1925 Carnegie High School Yearbook: MISS CHARLES FORBES -- Principal -- Although absorbed in her work she was never too busy to say a kind word to a student or to help him with his problem. Miss Forbes will not be connected with the high school faculty next year, but as the years roll by and memory has been aged by time in its flight, the name of Miss Forbes will be treasured in the hearts of former Carnegie high school students. Her work may be forgotten but her influence will live on forever.
"Miss Charles Forbes". No other information. I have no birth dates or death dates, nor locations. I cannot edit to "unknown" dates on Keeper's website settings. I don't know of any family connections. I only know that Miss Charles Forbes served as Principal at Carnegie High School in Carnegie, Oklahoma in 1925. My best guess is that she was born c. 1895-1900. She would likely be long deceased.
