Charles Robert Fay
February 28th, 1938 - January 24th, 2022
February 28th, 1938 - January 24th, 2022
Charles Robert Fay (Bob), 83, of Stratford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2022, of natural causes.
Bob was born on February 28, 1938, to Charles E. and Edith Carmen Fay in Cincinnati, Ohio. After graduating from Withrow High School in 1956, he went on to study chemical engineering at the University of Cincinnati, earning undergraduate (1962) and graduate (1970) degrees.
After graduation and a brief stint with his first company, he worked as a principal chemical engineer for over thirty-five years with Cytec Industries, whose work led to him personally holding ten patents, both domestic and international. His career moved the family from Ohio to California and New Jersey before settling in Connecticut for over forty years.
In 1964, he met Myrna Taylor at a church singles group, and they wed in 1966, going on to have three children: Kathy, Rob, and Ron. They were married for fifty-five years.
Both before and after retiring in 2001, Bob spent time reading and studying the Bible, fishing, boating, golfing, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team and University of Cincinnati men’s basketball team.
Over the years, Bob’s passion was to share his faith and spread the love of Jesus to those around him. He was deeply involved in his local church in Trumbull, Connecticut as a church elder and head of the missions committee. He started a church-affiliated nursing home ministry, which he co-led with Myrna for over fifteen years. He also led and hosted multiple small Bible study groups for over forty years, which had an impact on the lives of so many people. Apart from his local church, he also participated in various evangelist groups, including working with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
Bob was predeceased by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Taylor Fay, his children, Kathy and Mark (son-in-law) Kavanah, Rob and Laurel (daughter-in-law) Fay, Ron and Sarah (daughter-in-law) Fay, his grandchildren, brothers-in-law Berry (and wife Lisa) and Jack Taylor, and a host of beloved extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests financial donations be made to Calvary Evangelical Free Church’s mission’s budget.
