Dear Friends & Family,
It's been 10 years this month since CeCe's passing. Some may think it's been years, others might feel it went so fast. No matter the time, CeCe will always be in our hearts.
The Grady Family is still learning to live without CeCe. But, we're so grateful to have had such a loving daughter, sister & aunt, to have heard her laughter, to have been influenced by her wisdom and passion for what mattered to her, and to have shared a life with her.
In this month of June (which was the month of her birth and her passing), we invite you to join in with family and friends to remember the life of CeCe Grady.
Instructions for using this Memorial Page: Below you'll find a "Write a Tribute" box where you can write memories & stories about CeCe, be they about special times, music, compassion for animals, food, politics, or anything else that you'd like to share. Any photos you have can also be uploaded there and are greatly appreciated. The system does require you to enter a name and email address, but only the name is made public. You may also leave a like or comment on someone else's Tribute or photo.
Note: The box to the side of the page called "Send a Tribute" is the same as "Write a Tribute" and if you click in it, it will send you to the "Write a Tribute" box. Also to the side of this page is the "Mementos" section where the family has posted some initial photos of CeCe with family and friends over time. Apologies in advance that we didn't have photos of everyone close to CeCe. But if you have a photo of you with CeCe, we would love to see it. Just "share" it in the "Write a Tribute" section and tell us all a little something about it. It will post in your Tribute and at the top of the Mementos section. Thus, photos will move down the Mementos section as more people post photos.
The Mementos section includes a short video without sound of CeCe with her Aunt Alice and the Mansfield Family from Thanksgiving 2006. It's the last item in the Mementos section. It's quite nice to see CeCe moving and happy even if just for a few moments.
We think that's about it for instructions. If you hit any difficulties in using this system, please feel free to email Bill Grady at gradybill2@hotmail.com and we'll do our best to help. Thank you again for joining us here and remembering our beloved CeCe.

Hello to all the friends & family of CeCe: Thank you so much to everyone who posted remembrances, thoughts and photos...or who just visited the page. It meant a lot to all of us, and we probably all read some stories about CeCe that we hadn't heard before and that brought a smile to our faces. There's of course a lot of sadness still for all of us, but hopefully some contentment too in remembering all the good times and good spirit that she brought into so many lives. Again, thank you everyone. We'll take this page down for public comment at the end of July, but will archive it so let Bill know (gradybill2@hotmail.com) if you ever want to see anything that you remember here. You can download any photos you see in the Mementos section of this page. Love, Edith, Bill and Jill

Hi Grady Family and friends of CeCe - it's hard to believe it's been ten years since her passing. I knew CeCe for only a short time, a few months really, but the impression she left on me was one that will remain forever. I graduated college in 2009 and it was a challenging time to try and find a job, but in November of that year, I decided to move to Boston without a job. My sisters who worked at Harvard helped me to network while I was looking, and there was an opening at GSAS. I had applied for the job and my sister (who literally didn't know CeCe) asked if she would be willing to meet with me - CeCe said yes. Right off the bat, I liked her and appreciated her for taking the time to meet with this new grad who had no 'official' work experience. I had been on many interviews, but I can truly say CeCe's was one I will remember forever. We spoke casually, more like a conversation and barely touched on the questions I was used to in an interview (strengths, weaknesses, what I could bring to the job, etc) but right away, we hit things off. Before the end of the interview she told me she wanted me to come back for a second interview - she said to me, "wear another suit they'll be impressed with you" - I was SO excited that I got another interview, but was rather perplexed and amazed that she was telling me to wear a suit to the interview... mostly because why wouldn't I wear a suit??! But of course, once I got to know CeCe I came to realize that jeans were a regular occurrence and not just Friday attire. Needless to say, I got the job. I was SO excited - literally danced around when I got the call. I was even more excited that I was going to get to work with CeCe. How lucky was I that CeCe was my first boss? She was the best. We laughed all the time. CeCe would come and visit me at the front desk and we'd get a kick out of going through the mail and put some of it in a special drawer that we saved for when we were feeling like we needed an extra laugh. CeCe was always talking about her cat Milton and her love of animals. She was the best and I only wish I could have known her longer. I'll forever be grateful to CeCe Grady for getting me my first job, for being my first boss, and for believing in me.

Tomorrow is CeCe’s Birthday. For 59 years, alive and gone from us, she has in one way or another made an impression on our lives. Hers was a bipolar existence but it was love never hate that always drove her. When she was alive she was skilled at keeping the dark side hidden and while we must always remember the bright light she exuded, I think we should remember her ever present depression that she described to me as sitting “in my brain, and chest, and stomach like an unrelenting enemy”. She chose to stay on the East Coast after college where she made the many wonderful, caring friends who kept her light side lit. I am grateful to all of you. Edith, CeCe’s Mom
