Was only thinking of you the other day, I’m shocked and so very sorry to hear you’re no longer with us Carol. You were so ahead of the curve with carbon data, thank you for all your hard work transforming businesses to accept their moral responsibility re sustainability. You leave us having made us all more conscious a better world is possible. You had such a lovely laugh, saddened you had to leave the party much too soon. We saw David tonight he’s obviously lost his soul mate but found a friend, I think you would like. Sleep tight sweet darling see you on the other side

I have such warm memories of Carole and am very sad to hear of her death. I met her many times over the years – initially as Chris Seeley’s best buddy and delightful partner in crime (no real crimes were committed as far as I know, but such a sense of their shared explorations , chuckles and adventures). Many gatherings with them both at Folly Cottage. And then gradually over the years I got to know Carole more personally – as a colleague through CARPP and through other connections. I know she was extremely knowledgeable and passionate in her professional areas of expertise. However when I think of Carole there are two more personal memories that come to mind. First her jazz singing. I first heard her sing at a Hawkwood conference. I think this was fairly soon after she’d begun jazz singing lessons. My memory is that she’d recently gone on a singing course and at the end of the course the challenge was to sing live jazz in a local club. I loved Carole’s singing. And loved even more just how up for deciding to sing in public she was – how she just went for it. Both the singing and her enjoyment of sharing it with us were a great gift. I have a very strong impression of her that night – warm, musical, very alive, captivating, sharing her music. Later on, I needed to pick her brains about some business marketing thing. I remember a long, leisurely lunch when we chatted about business and all sorts of other things (of course). I recall again her amazing natural warmth, openness, generosity and friendliness. I really did enjoy the conversations we had over the years – both about work and also other silly topics. David – we’ve met a few times over the years. At social events, mainly at Folly Cottage I think. I send you my condolences and very best wishes. She was a lovely person who will be remembered very fondly by very many people. I really did appreciate her. I have no idea what comes after this life, but I like to think that her and Chris are having a laugh together somewhere and up to something wonderful, transgressive, creative and extraordinary x

Our dear friend Carole was cool in a wonderfully present way. Even back in the 80s when I was buttoned into my little corporate suit, she was veggie, with flowing hair, doing Tai Chi in the back garden with David, and fighting in the most positive way for the planet while the rest of us were discovering bottled water and knocking up beef bourguignon. I felt privileged to be admitted into her friendship circle, and later when Martin came into my life, it was always life-enhancing to spend time with David and Carole and invigorating to hear about their latest big idea or project. We gelled very well; when we bumped into each other in the Alps, Carole and I could stop pretending we enjoyed skiing and head off for a vin chaud while Martin and David hit the slopes. She was a natural choice as Godmother to our son Jake; she has been a great support to him through some difficult times, and he has always been very fond of her. He and she shared a love of theatre and he was thrilled when she and David took him to an unexpectedly rude production when he was about 11. I’d describe Carole’s core quality as empathetic positivity. She acknowledged problems, whether they be hers, other people’s or the planet’s, met them head on and got on with doing all in her power to make things better. She was also huge fun, with a big laugh frequently deployed and infectious, and we had many great times together, mainly involving copious amounts of food and wine. We’ll think of her often, and when we do, we’ll smile and raise a glass. Xxx

I am very sad to learn of Carole’s death. I remember so well when she arrived with Chris Seeley at one of the earliest of our open days for the MSc. She was a great spirit on the second group, and subsequently contributed much to the CARPP programmes including working in Welsh Assembly Government and with the Low Carbon projects. She was always a creative joy to work with. I have searched my old photo files for pictures. There are many in which her beaming face is peeping out between others' shoulders, but strangely few direct shots. I attach one of her playing drums at Chris Seeley's celebration gathering
