Though his smile is gone forever, and his hand I cannot touch, I still have so many memories of the one I loved so much. Your memory is my keepsake, with which I’ll never part. God has you in his keeping, I have you in my heart. Sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Calvin Luther Long, 74, of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away May 1, 2020. At his request no service will be held. We will be having a celebration of life soon after figuring out this social distancing situation. Calvin was born March 11, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Edna Mae Hawley and George Luther Long. Calvin did not start out in life with the best of circumstances in that he lost his mother to cancer at the delicate age of nine months old. Little Calvin was ultimately left in the care of his Aunt up to the age of six and then went back to live with his daddy. This could be why there was nothing Calvin couldn’t accomplish that he set his mind to do. If Calvin couldn’t already fix it, he’d figure how how to in no time. Everyone called Calvin for advice or help and he wouldn’t hear of turning someone away. They would ask him on advice from cars to medical questions, and he would know! Calvin being in multiple arms of the military helped his ability to be a jack of all trades as well. He was a sheetrocker for many years and then retired from truck driving. Calvin is survived by the love of his life, Paula Long of the home, sister Maxine of California, two children, Darrell Long and Cheryl Long Buffalo, both of OKC, two step-children, Lissa Gates and husband Bryan Gates of Blanchard, Oklahoma and Teresa Stone and husband Danny Stone of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is predeceased in death by three sisters Patricia, RubyJean, Maxine and one brother Bob. Calvin was an amazing grandfather to those 5 grandchildren Kylie Muzzy, Lindsey Muzzy, Dalton Gates, Bailey Stone and Emily Stone, enjoying every minute he spent with them. The last couple of years Calvin spent living it up with two little girls that literally melted his heart, his two great granddaughters, Kynlie McClain and Jeslyn McClain. They became the biggest joys in his life as “Poppa” and Gramma cared for them while their momma worked. We cannot express how greatly Calvin will be missed by all that knew him but especially his wife, children, grandchildren, and those two little great granddaughters who came over to “play” with Poppa almost every day.
