Memorial

Mementos

Good morning everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well as we prepare to celebrate Caite's life this weekend.  I want to send out a few final reminders.  Please email me directly with any questions.

Everyone is welcome to arrive at Sherman Library & Gardens at 4PM.  Please note that parking can be a bit tight.  I recommend carpooling if you can.  We will have harp music being played as you get a chance to walk around the beautiful garden to remember Caite.  The service will begin at 4:30PM.  There will be a slideshow, along with light food and refreshments, afterwards.  We are asking everyone to leave the gardens by 7PM so that the folks at Sherman are able to conclude their days at a decent hour.

A few other notes:

  • There is no specific dress code for the event.  Our family is treating this as a celebration so there is no need to wear black unless you want to.
  • Please bring photos of Caite.  And stories.  We will have frames to display everything and will gather it all for Alex, Thea, and Calvin afterwards.  We will also have stationary to write a story if you feel moved in the moment.
  • Here is the website for the live stream of the service.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing some of you this weekend.

Drew

Please help us by writing a letter to Thea & Calvin so that they can understand the incredible mother, daughter, wife, sister, and friend that she was.

Caite Millar Ray – loving mom and wife, devoted friend and family member, cherished colleague and compassionate leader – brought light into the lives of all she touched.

Those of us who were lucky enough to be part of her life saw and felt the way she sought to lift everyone up. We saw it in all the many friendships she built – including the couple friendships she and Alex sustained for more than 15 years. We saw it in the colleagues she embraced as far more than work partners, but people she truly, deeply cared about – always listening, seeking to get to know them, making sure they were seen and heard by leaders.

Above all, we saw it in her deep love for her family – her husband, Alex, her two year old daughter Thea and newly born Calvin. She loved being a mom, first and foremost, and she and Alex had big dreams for their future. They were very excited to grow their family and build their dream home where they could raise Thea and Calvin.

We are devastated by her sudden passing on Saturday, November 23 – a tragic result of complications from childbirth.

Caite brought so much light into the world through her passion for people, and the care and compassion she brought to every relationship. We know that light will glow on among everyone whose life became better because of her – and among all of us she inspired to be better, kinder people through her love. Your kind wishes and support are very much appreciated at this difficult time.
