Our beloved 23-year-old son, Bryan Alexander Potts, passed away on the third of August 2021. Bryan was born in Salt Lake, a beautiful, bouncing baby boy who filled our lives with love and joy. Bryan excelled in many areas: he was an Eagle Scout, he took state in debate as a freshman at West High School, and he competed in soccer at a high level. Bryan was funny, bright and engaging. He was very patriotic and loved woodworking, country music and cooking. Bryan loved the outdoors and mountains in particular. He was proud of his Romanian heritage and enjoyed visiting the Transylvanian mountains. He hiked the 15 mile width of the Wind River Range in Wyoming. He became an accomplished fly fisherman, prowling and floating the streams and rivers of Montana, Idaho and Utah. Bryan was protective of those he loved, those who are disadvantaged, and animals. He adored all of his pets growing up and most recently Lissy, Lola, Arnie and Smoky. Bryan suffered a fractured spine in a car accident near his 17 th birthday, that would impact his health and alter the course of his life. We cherish the 23 years we had with Bryan. His passing leaves a gaping hole in our lives and our hearts that will never heal. We love you Bryan - Mom, Dad and Nikki. Dear Wayne, Patricia, and Nikki, The news of Bryan's passing was a thunderbolt through my heart. I am full of grief for you and for those who loved him well. I remember Bryan from the time he was a tiny adorable baby with a hysterical selective bias against bearded men, as a lively toddler full of smiles and energy, and later as a creative and sharp-witted kid full of promise. I wish I could have known him better and would certainly have come to the celebration of Bryan's life were I not somewhere along the road from Washington to Utah. David offers his condolences as well and we hope you find some strength to heal from this pain. Love, Lara

Wayne, Patricia and Nikki, After nearly a week of absorbing this news, I still find no adequate words to convey my sorrow for the ache that Bryan's passing will leave in your lives. Reviewing many pictures of his early years of Scouting and fishing, I am struck by the way that, even when puzzling out a challenge in the background, Bryan is always wearing the open face of someone who carried his heart lightly while absorbing the world fully, every plant, bird, or fish, every friend or pet, and holding especially close his family. Martin & Yvonne join me in sending our grief and love. Hal and the Primanis-Erickson family

Dear Wayne, Patricia and Nikki, I am so so sorry to hear about Bryan's passing. I cannot imagine the grief all three of you are feeling. I read the news as Adrian and I were on a road trip back east for his last year at Earlham. Adrian, of course, knew Bryan as well and we were equally shocked by the news. I will be in Costa Rica at the time of the celebration of Bryan's life, but I will be sending you all a warm embrace on August 14. With much sympathy, Don and Adrian

Wayne, Patricia and Nikki, It was difficult and shocking to learn of Bryan's passing. He is someone that I have known my entire life and was close friends with during our youth in the avenues. Bryan was always so energetic and joyful. He was an amazing friend because of this and because he pushed me to enjoy life with him. He always convinced me to do things with him that I was scared of, like have an airsoft battle with the older kids at the i-street bike park, throw fire crackers at each other in his backyard, join the boy scouts even though I quit the next day, sneak extra donuts on donut day at northcrest and so many more silly adolescent things. Bryan was fun to be around for so many reasons and that is why it is so incredibly sad that he has left us. Bryan was an incredible friend and amazing person, I send my deepest condolences to you. All the best and so much love, Gus and the Steven's family

Dear Wayne, Patricia and Nikki, We are so sad for the news about Bryan. Meeting Bryan when we visited you during Nathan's college tour trip was one of the highlights of the trip. He was such a creative and energetic person who loved the outdoors, loved his family, his pets and creating a warm environment for his parents' friends. We took a hike to Lake Mary where Bryan fished, and our photos show the rest of us contentedly watching him, soaking up the sun and the mountain air. He was clearly driven to follow his pursuits and got such pleasure from being out in the natural world. We were so sorry to learn of his accident a few years ago. He went through more than any young man should have to endure. We are so so sorry for your loss. It is our loss too as he was a spark of life in a world that needs more joy. We wish we could join you for your celebration of Bryan's life on Saturday, please know that we will be thinking of you then, and always. Love, Susan and Allen and Nathan

Dear Patricia, Wayne, and Nikki, We ache with you at the loss of Bryan, our cherished neighbor and friend. We will always remember his sparkly grin and clear-eyed intelligence. Our kids grew up together - losing Bryan feels like losing one of our own. The love you poured into him was beyond measure. We are so sorry he had to endure such pain in his last years and we will sorely miss him. Mike and Sher
