July 12th, 1961 - December 4th, 2020
Brice Walz, formerly of Huron, SD, passed away December 4, 2020 in Charlotte, NC where he lived for the last 2 years of his life. Brice was born June 12, 1961 to Ivan and Tilly Walz in Huron, SD. He graduated from Huron High School and North Central University. From there Brice went on to serve in the ministry under the Assemblies of God in various cities across the states of Wyoming, Minnesota, and Kansas. When his time as a Reverend with the Assemblies of God was finished, he moved to Minnesota and worked in the financial services industry which took him across four states and several companies.
He loved soccer and played in various adult leagues as well as in college, with his jersey number being 13. He coached his children in both soccer and basketball as well. He was also a fan and part owner of the Green Bay Packers football team. Brice was an avid firearms collector and hunter, taking his children on many hunting trips across several areas in Kansas, at one point taking up a part time job at a local firearms store just to get an employee discount. While living in Kansas he opened up his home and served as a foster parent to children in need around the Kansas area.
Brice is survived by his mother (Tilly Walz , of Pittsburg, PA), his wife Marissa Walz of 16 years, 4 children (Chris Walz of Miltonvale, KS, Daniel Walz of Clay Center KS, Aaron Walz of Denver CO, and David Walz of Smyrna, GA. A sister and brother (Rev. Lorna Albanese of Pittsburg, PA, and Rev. Brad Walz of Nashville, TN), and 16 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Ivan Walz and a daughter, Amber Walz.
There will be a Memorial Service for Brice at Life Church in Smyrna, GA on February 20, 2021 at 2pm. The service will be recorded and shared online.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks any memorial gift in honor of Brice Walz be given to one of his favorite charities, the Adult and Teen Challenge ministry.
