It’s been a year and I miss you every single day. I speak to you often and I hope you hear me but sometimes it’s too painful to not get an answer. Nathan wrote a poem and I wanted to share it with you and get your opinion. There are thousands of other things I’ve wanted to tell you or ask you about this year. There is a hole in my heart. I only hope we will meet up again someday and you’ll give me a big Brian hug and we’ll hang out. I wish I’d gone to visit you in San Diego every time you asked me too. I wish I’d known Christmas 2021 was the last time we’d speak in person. I wish we’d been able to keep our lunch date at the dumpling place but I’m thankful and blessed that you were my little brother for 48 years and I thank God I was able to have you in my life. Your support and love have meant everything. I love you Brian and I will find you, I promise.

How can a person you never knew personally leave you with such pain of loss at their passing. Yet this the case with Brian. That he could connect with people he hadn’t even met is a indication how appreciated he was. Today marks one year that you left us and although you are missed, you remain in our hearts. You were a big man with a heart to match. Today I will raise a glass to you and celebrate your memory. Rest easy.

Watching the livestream of the memorial and barely keeping it together. A gem of a human being. I'm so lucky that our lives intersected. Even though we lived on opposite coasts, we managed to make a lot of unforgettable memories for the better part a decade. Brian brought people together. He built a community. So many friendships created and relationships born because of him. That's how he lives on in all of us. See you a little later, my friend.

I am so shattered. It hurts so much that you’re no longer with me. He brought up randomly that LGBTQ+ couples were getting their arms painted and having these awesome photos taken. He shows me a photo for reference. I’ve been hesitant about doing something so silly and cheesy publicly in all my relationships. This moment is where I no longer wanted that reservation because why withhold myself from that, when you see how easy it was to openly express loving him. I’m going to painfully miss you for the rest of my life.
