Brett's Daughter

Set me like a seal on your heart, For love is unyielding as the grave.
Brett Scott Ahern, aged 65, died suddenly at home in Palmer Alaska on March 8, 2025.
The two driving forces of Brett's life were his passion for his Savior, Jesus Christ, and his love for his wife Cory and their family. Born on September 16, 1959 in Island Park, New York, Brett led his younger siblings Lance, Meryl, and Perry, who all survive him, in long bike rides and hikes and games of penny poker, darts, and stickball. Their parents, Gene and Heather Ahern, who have passed, instilled in all their children a strong sense of family, spending countless weekends visiting extended family all over Long Island.
His independent religious studies led Brett to accept Jesus early in high school, and to religious studies at Liberty College, and then to Israel. After returning home he married the love of his life, Cory, and together they raised Rhianna, Shannon, Jesse, Shyrrah, and Carrise, who all survive him, in southern California. Brett and Cory relocated from Costa Mesa to Palmer Alaska in 2016, where Brett most recently continued his life of service helping Alaskans achieve eligibility for Department of Health services. Despite the distance from his Lower48 family, Brett loved and missed and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. Brett worked hard his whole life to provide for his family.
While Brett loved his many grandchildren, including Jayden, Jarrod, and Tesla in California, and Grayson and Lorelei in Idaho, he was especially close to Rhianna's son Landon, who lived nearby in Wasilla. Landon would spend almost every weekend with his Grandpa, and Brett worked hard to find all kinds of interesting activities in the area to keep them busy. Landon and Cory were with Brett when he died, and are in our prayers especially.

I remember growing up. My brother Bruce and Brett colided while we were playing Ghost in the Graveyard. My gather put butterfly tape to stitch my brothers head. We all had fun. It was not actual graveyard it was at night in the yard. We stayed with them a short while. Most Thanksgivings were spent at our house. My father eas a Chef so he cooked and we ate too much. After dinner we would all walk to the Boardwalk and then walk it. We used to ride bikes from our home on East Chester St to his house on Kinston blvd. Those were the days. About 20 years ago he lived in California I was driving a Big Rig and he came to the truck stop an hour from his house to get my partner and I. Brought us to the house and Cory made lunch. Afterward Brett and I took a nice walk like old times. I miss the old yes.

Brett was a kind and gentle soul. He loved the LORD and immersed himself into His Word. He enjoyed sharing the Truth of the Word and his insights into it with others. I admired his continuous study of the Scriptures, a constant student. His devotion to his family was inspiring. He will be greatly missed.

Brett was kind, gentle, soft spoken, and very faithful, devoted to God and to his dear wife Cory. I remember the nice meals Glenn and I had at Brett and Cory's house. Cory, you and Brett were so kind to us. We thank you soooo much! It was wonderful listening to Brett tell his life story, how he came to Yeshua, his time in Israel where he learned to hear from God, and his deep heart for hearing deep spiritual Truths from God and learning all he could from Scripture and Hebrew, etc. I loved reading a few of the papers he had written of his Biblical insights. I didn't read them all. He had stacks and stacks of them! A wealth of profound Scriptural revelations. And I enjoyed listening to the things he shared at our services. Sitting at your table, Cory, we loved hearing you both tell how you two met, and about your life before you met him and how it wonderfully changed after you met him. We felt so privileged and blessed, listening to the two of you retell it together. You two had something precious and rare. I just can't believe he's gone!! How can it be!???!!! So sorry we are too far away from Alaska now. Love and hugs, Prayers for Heaven's comfort, Cheryl

Brett was my cousin. He was a few years older than me. I remember living next door to Brett, Lance & Meryl on Kingston Blvd in Island Park. Sometimes we would see them playing outside. I lived with my Mom, Dad, 5 sisters & one brother. It was fun to have cousins living next door. We only lived there for short time before moving to Uniondale. I guess we all lost touch after that besides seeing Facebook posts in our later years. I do remember Brett was always nice to us. I was shocked & saddened to hear of his passing. Sending my love & prayers to all of the family ❤️
