November 20th, 1968 - September 15th, 2024
Brenda Lee Church, 56, of Grand Rapids, passed away on September 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 20, 1968, in Onaway, Michigan, Brenda was the youngest of six children. She is predeceased by her beloved brother, mother, and father.
Brenda faced many challenges throughout her life, including a stroke at the age of 13 caused by artery vascular malformation (AVM), which required multiple surgeries in her 20s. Despite these obstacles, she always carried a bright smile and an unbreakable spirit. Her quick wit, contagious laughter, and ability to bring people together will be remembered by all who knew her.
A creative soul, Brenda had a natural gift for making things beautiful, whether it was crafting decorations for holidays or creating special memories with her family. While younger She dabbled in different industries including restaurants and construction, but later in life, she found joy in caring for children, including her own nieces, nephews, and eventually her beloved grandson. She welcomed everyone with open arms and was known for her generosity—always offering what little she had to those in need.
Brenda’s greatest pride was providing a stable and loving home for her two daughters. In 2000, she achieved one of her proudest accomplishments when she bought her own home, ensuring that her family would always have a place to call their own.
Music was one of Brenda’s great loves, helping her through life’s toughest moments. She loved spending time with her family, especially being involved in her daughter's school activities. Everyone who knew her will remember her as the youngest, coolest, and most beautiful mom around.
Brenda is survived by her two daughters, Stephanie and Brendalee, her grandson Carlos, and her four sisters Debbie (Ray) Logan, Frances Church, Pamela (Dean) Church-Sawicki, and Susan (Sergio) Rivera. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who adored her.
Her legacy of kindness, love, and generosity will live on in her family and in the hearts of those she touched.
