Bonita Anne Hein (known as Bonny) passed away more than two years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She was the beloved wife of Norman Morrison, and loving mother of Bradford, Kimberly and Stephanie Morrison. She was the cherished daughter of Garry (deceased) and Winnifred Hein, and sister to Lori (deceased), Jean, and Garry W. Hein. Bonny had many friends from work, swim club and her various other activities. Her kindness touched the lives of many and she is terribly missed. Bonny's family travelled with her father, who was in the Canadian army. Born on a Canadian base in Germany and the youngest of three daughters, there are many quirky stories of her on family voyages. The family bought a house and settled in Cinnabar Valley, Nanaimo, where Bonny lived until moving to Vancouver to complete her BCIT diploma. She was quickly hired by BC Biomedical labs and became a microbiology lab technician. She performed her job with purpose and dedication until retiring when she received her diagnosis. Bonny was devoted to her family. With three children under three, she decided to continue to work while Norman became the stay-at-home dad. Bonny and Norman's time during those years was dedicated to caring for their children, taking them to sports events, school events, medical appointments and doing anything else for their children that might need doing. The family survived a stressful time when the children were five years old or less, and Norman was diagnosed and treated for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Supporting a family on a single income in Vancouver was not easy, but since Norman's successful treatment, Bonny made sure to regularly donate to cancer charities. Brad, Kim and Steph all became avid swimmers, and Bonny shared the same passion for swimming, joining an adult swim club once she had the time. She swam for years in the ‘beginners' lane, making friends with her lane-mates and celebrating her sometimes slow improvement with jokes and good humour. When she moved too far away from her first swim club, she joined a group of friends and swam with the informal AquaClub in Surrey. Bonny was always determined to stay healthy, eating Norman's excellent home-made meals and finding time to go on walks with her dogs, friends, or both. Being animal lovers, Bonny and Norman both had dogs when they got married - Tasha being the gentle golden labrador that Bonny brought to the family. Tasha was a faithful companion and protector to all three children before passing away at 13. Bonny had dogs throughout her life. She loved her dogs and family, and was determined to live her life with them well. Bonny had no interest in flashy trends or unnecessary luxury. Her focus was always on having a quality, down-to-earth life, and enjoying her time with her friends and family. We are devastated by the loss of such a kind and caring person from our lives. The world is less without her. In lieu of flowers, please continue Bonny's practice of donating to cancer charities by donating to the BC Cancer Foundation or Pancreatic Cancer Canada.

Bonny was good, and kind, and sweet, and generous. The legacy of her family continues to make the world a better place.

I worked with Bonny first with BC Biomedical Labs, then with Lifelabs as a technologist in Microbiology. Our Microbiology group was known to be very social within the BC Biomedical community, and we enjoyed getting together for any reason. For a while, we had formed a quilting group and would meet in a conference room after work to quilt and have dinner beforehand. Bonny didn't quilt, but she was welcome to join in with us. We'd have our quilts laid out in various stages of completion, with everyone's sewing machines set up around the room. I was having trouble deciding what kind of border to put around my quilt. Surprisingly, Bonny helped me to pick out the fabric, the width it should be and how it should lay. It worked out perfectly and I still have that quilt. One of many memories, will miss you Bon Bon.

It was our privilege and our joy to share many family times and experiences with Bonny, Norman, and their kids. I cannot think of anyone who more richly deserved every joy family life could hold. My heart goes out to Norman, Steph, Kim and Brad--they should have had so many more years to share with this wonderful person, wife, and mother.
