Loved Ones

Byron August "BJ" Ross, born on October 20, 1985, was a man of sincere character and enduring spirit. Although cut short on March 27, 2023, his life was filled with a rich tapestry of experiences that left an indelible impact on those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was born to his loving mother Janelle Carpenter and grew up in the shared care of his step-father Steve Carpenter. BJ was the youngest of six and shared his childhood with an extensive band of siblings including his brothers Aaron, Adam, Leif, Clay, and his sister Briana. Together, they wove countless memories, creating a vibrant familial tapestry that would endure beyond his years.

BJ found his life's greatest joy with his children, Byron, Camden, and Addison. His role as a husband and a father defined him, adding a depth to his life that only such profound connections can bestow. Though brief, his life journey was indeed a testament to his strength and his love for his family.

BJ was known for his big heart and for often lending a helping hand to anyone in need whether he knew them or not. He was a customer favorite while working at the BBQ Shack because he entertained his customers with his dynamic personality and they also loved the way he put their food together.

He loved fixing things, cooking, and anything outdoors. He was daring and adventurous and loved spending his free time camping, fishing, and 4x4'ing. He often had his 12-year-old beloved black lab, Adidas, on his adventures with him.

As we remember Byron August Ross, let us not forget the essence of the man he was - the beloved father, the devoted husband, the caring son, and the cherished brother. His life may have ended on that fateful day in 2023, but his memory lives on, forever etched in the hearts of his loved ones. May this biography serve as a tribute to his life, a life that was lived with dignity, love, and a spirit that remains unbroken, even in death.

We got to spend an afternoon with BJ and his kids about a month before he passed away. I felt strongly we needed to visit AZ at that time but didn’t know why. I’m so grateful we got to see him happy and full of peace before he died. He was quite the character and we love and miss getting random calls in the middle of the night. We miss him.

I had the pleasure of attending BJ and Leah's wedding at the Grand Canyon. And I did get to talk on the phone with BJ a few months before he passed. I am so thankful for those times with him. I love him and I love his family dearly. God Bless

Several years ago BJ delivered a washer and dryer to our home in Winchester, Oregon. BJ was driving long haul truck for a living at the time. My brother Steve Carpenter, asked BJ if he could deliver a washer and dryer to us on his way through Oregon. Of course BJ said sure. When BJ arrived he was happy and so kind and willing to unload the washer and dryer. The amazing part was the young man actually picked the washer up by himself, lifting it and placing it in the laundry room. He did the same with the dryer. No way could l or my husband could have unloaded it. He didn't use a dolly, just lifted the appliances like a feather. After he hooked the appliances up we had dinner I made and had the best visit. BJ's easy going personality and kindness was a reflection of his upbringing. We will never forget his deep dimples and great smile. He will forever be in our hearts. Love to his memory and love to all the family. His smile is surely lighting up Heaven's great mansion. Love Aunt Linda and Uncle Steve Bergadine
