Long Live Bev-I
Our beloved Bev-I Beverly Dove, dear friend & comrade in struggle, joined the ancestors last week on the heels of the new year. Bev was as pure a spirit on this earth as humans can be. Bev-I carried forward the optimism of the 60's and 70's in her fight, her dance and her general love for all (anti-capitalist) life and shared it with everyone, right until the day she died. Bev-I's community is enormous because she touched so many lives with her unabashed physical and audible declarations of righteousness. Beverly Dove is so missed by so many.
Please share any pictures & memories you'd like to share here. We will each keep her spirit alive.

Amid the genocide, there were few moments I think back to and smile. Bev was one of them. She was so supportive on our campus. I remember one day I was getting berated by a Zionist. I was exhausted and on the verge of tears. Bev was sitting on a patch of grass nearby. Though we’d never met I saw her looking over at me. She stopped me to tell me that I was beautiful. I didn’t feel beautiful but the way she said it felt so genuine and sincere I couldn’t help but smile. I rarely found hopeful moments during that period but something about Bev and her regular presence kept me pushing along. Her memory is a such a blessing and she will certainly be missed.

What is your favorite memory shared with Beverly?
One of the fondest memories of my dear friend of 40 years, Bev I. This video was made around 2010 on the south side adjacent People's Park.

As I write this the first thing coming to my mind when thinking of Bev-I was her saying "hello squirrel!" People think they're superior to the earth but Bev-I saw herself as a part of it. She's even closer to the earth but most remain separated.

I talked to Bev-I often. She called or texted, usually with a row of emojis, all heartfelt and some evoking a chuckle. She would ask how I was doing, and ask if I knew about this or that march, action, event, or need for people. Her smile came easily, and she often caused me to smile, as she showed up with a different hair color, and was usually excited to be wherever she was. She didn't hold back, and usually danced at marches and demonstrations. We got closer a few yrs ago when I went to the mat with DAX after they stole her beloved HipHop. She was always thanking people for their activism, especially those on the front lines. She was unique, a beautiful and sprite-like spirit, and I loved her. I'll miss you, Bev-I, as you dance amongst the stars.

My sweet radical friend, I’m so sad to learn of your passing and celebrate in you joining our ancestors. I met Bevi 16+ years ago during the Berkeley tree sit of the grandmother oak tree. So many sacred places campaigns. We could always count on her to show up to the various actions and events, vigils and rallies that we organized. I will miss her energy and presence, it was always such a special moment when she was with us. Photo here of my sister Loyen cousin Nikki and her at our indigenous solidarity for Palestine vigil. 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸✨🔥
