Betty Mine
December 19th, 1981 - September 4th, 2024
December 19th, 1981 - September 4th, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell to Betty (‘Betts’), a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, mentor, and cherished colleague. She unexpectedly passed away on September 4, 2024, and leaves behind her father, Bruce Mine, sisters Lilliene Mine and Jessica Mine, nieces Stephanie Chen and Alia Ureta, nephew Harrison Chen, brother-in-laws Shannon Chen and Allen Ureta, many cousins, extended family, friends, and colleagues. Betty will forever leave a void in our hearts and lives, and our future is dimmer without her presence.
Betts touched the lives of those around her and became an irreplaceable presence in her friendships and communities. Knowing her meant appreciating the value of laughter, connection, and deep wisdom. But above all of her life achievements, Betts was simply a kind, gentle person. She was a constant source of love, generosity, thoughtfulness, and joy.
She lived a life full of beauty that transcended our senses and most importantly, brought us together. From sharing music that became the soundtracks of our lives; watching Broadway shows that made us laugh and made us cry; sharing stories over fabulous meals (and more than a few glasses of wine!); catching up on hot days at the US Open or keeping up with football (soccer to us Americans) to traveling around the world and back; Betty was the glue that brought people together to share an experience worth living for.
It seems impossible to move on without her, yet Betty would be the one to urge you on. She would encourage you to live your life to the fullest, eat delicious foods, and travel to new destinations. The next time you travel to a new city or have an incredible meal, keep Betty in your heart and let her know that “I am thinking of you.”
Betty will forever be remembered for her warmth, empathy, and the indelible mark she left on all of us. Friends, we thank you for being Betty's chosen family.
Rest in peace, dear Betts. You will be missed more than words can express. 再見。💜

Betty is such a special person, I’m completely heartbroken by this loss. She made the world a warmer, gentler place. We bonded freshman year at NYU, and were roommates the rest of our time there. She was the adventurer open to sharing her passions, wisdom, and tender sarcasm when you needed to be pulled back to earth. She balanced sophistication and playfulness wonderfully, and I always knew that we’d have a blast wherever we were. There are so many fond memories of those early days: - Scouring the Union Square holiday market for gifts for our families - Jamming to Death Cab for Cutie - Playing Penguin Smackdown - Our great pride whenever we found amazing food in the city that fit a college student’s budget. - Watching late night scary movies (one year convinced that our TV was haunted because it’d sporadically turn on/off by itself - pretty sure it was ‘accidentally’ left behind when we moved out) - My fav, Betty convinced me to skip the Halloween parade and instead see the opening night of Wicked on Broadway in 2003. It was magical and she was right. I will miss Betty’s laughter, and the way she’d affectionately giggle when a tease she had composed was right on. I very much wish there could be more time with her, but am learning that with those who have such an impact on our lives, no amount of time will ever be enough. I am grateful for the time I was given with my dear friend. And my heartfelt condolences to her family. She looked forward to seeing them, and spoke about them with complete joy and pride - especially her nieces and nephew. I’m sure her never-ending love will be felt always.

Dearest Betty, There are so many of us who will forever miss your positive energy and uncanny ability to be encouraging and empathetic while simultaneously being a voice of reason. You were a bright light and calming presence to all who knew you… Anjali

My thoughts and condolences are with the Mine family and friends who loved and knew Betty. Betty didn’t just live life—she experienced it. Whether it was through her many fantastic travels, love of shows or checking out great restaurants, I could always count on Betty to be a wealth of information. I remember she spoke of her family often, proudly and lovingly. I will miss her warm smile and easy laughter. We are very much a family at Warner Bros. and this loss is overwhelming. Betty, we miss you and hope you are enjoying the most amazing food, dancing to a great groove while going on the most epic adventure. Love, Cynthia Lee

We had such amazing times Betty that I will never forget. We started our careers together at WB going through the trenches together every late night during the Upfronts, figuring out daily what we would eat for lunch, numerous happy hours bonding with our coworkers that became like family, excitedly gawking at celebs working the premieres and doing all the fun things in between that 20somethings do in NYC. You were always willing to plan a get together (like hotpot at your apartment) or meet up over a meal or fly out to a musical festival like we did years ago in NoLa. We made it fun and so lucky that not only did I get to work with such a brilliant and smart person but got to know you as a friend over the years. When we last spoke in April, I was so proud that you were in a good place…working at a new company with old friends. It felt like no time had past at all and I’ll always be sad that we didn’t get to have a few more fun meals and experiences together. My heart goes out to your family—you guys meant so much to Betty. She always loved talking about the family reunions you were planning and updates about her nieces. We will miss her so much!

It’s really hard saying goodbye, Betty. You were one of the absolute best and we’ll miss you so much. I was always so happy knowing I was going to get to see you somewhere and left every single conversation we’ve ever had feeling inspired and like the world was full of potential. Can’t say that about too many people, your zest for life sure was special. Thanks always for your kindness, generosity and sweet smile. They left an indelible mark on us all. Until we see you again, sweet friend!

My deepest condolences to the Mine family and all who mourn the loss of Betty. I went to NYU with Betty and remember her for her kindness, generosity, positivity, and great ideas. I had the pleasure of working with her on EXPO - I was always impressed with her creativity and ability to communicate her vision so clearly. Her generous way of making people feel welcome and included was a super power. I am so sorry.
