Betty Jane Mayer

Betty Jane Mayer, age 89, of Washington, WV passed away on October 11, 2019 with her family at her side. She was born in Johnstown, PA to the late Charles Molchan and Sylvia Friedline. Betty was adopted and raised by her maternal Great Grandmother, Melvina Berner. She married Carl Boring in 1947 and moved to Cleveland, OH in 1957. Betty was head cashier at the Statler Hilton Hotel for many years and then worked as a bookkeeper for ad agencies until her retirement. She married Karl Mayer after her first husband’s death. She and Karl moved to Naples, FL in the 1980s. Betty and Karl spent 30 happy years together until his death. Betty was a member of Eastern Star and was a member of the Lutheran Church. She is survived by her eldest daughter Kathy L. Morehead (Basil) of Washington, WV, two grandsons, Neil Morehead (Pamela) of Mineral Wells, WV and Glen Morehead (Patricia) of Poulsbo, WA and by three great grandsons, David Morehead, Andrew Morehead and Zachary Morehead, of Mineral Wells, WV. She was preceded in death by her husbands, and her youngest daughter Susan B. Reinhard. There will be no services. Her ashes will be scattered as she requested. She asked that any donations be made to organizations that help children in the foster care system.
