Always loving, Always Loved.
With heavy hearts, I announce the passing of Betty Carter, a beloved mother, entrepreneur, and friend, who left us on September 4, 2025, in California at the age of 83. Born on July 28, 1942, in Louisiana, Betty’s journey through life was marked by unwavering kindness, a generous spirit, and an energetic enthusiasm. Betty cherished traveling with her daughter, playing golf, and refurbishing furniture. spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, due grandkids and her sidekick Teddy. Betty's iconic peach cobbler and delicious Gumbo will be missed along with her infectious laugh. Betty's celebration of life will be planned, the details of which will be shared at a later date. In lieu of flowers, her daughter requests that condolences and tributes be made through donations to causes dear to her heart: The African American Museum in D.C., The Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Foundation, or SPCA LA. As we remember Betty, celebrate the beautiful moments she shared with us and the extraordinary legacy of love, generosity, and joy she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. So, put on her favorite song " Got to give it up" by Marvin Gaye, grab your favorite beverage and dance like there's no tomorrow.

Ms. Carter was such a wonderful lady. We connected through real estate. But our relationship developed into so much more. I would call her to see how she was doing. She was such a wealth of information and just reminded me of my parents. Her journey in life was so amazing she was truly a self made woman. I miss our talks and I’m so sad that she is gone. Hang in there Crystal. I can’t imagine your lost.

I loved preparing food for you, Auntie Betty, and taking you plate on holidays. I enjoyed our last visit together in your backyard a fee months ago. I remember you moving around to and fro in your wheel and talking about your various fig trees and smiling. That was a good day!

Betty, I’ve known you for over 50 years as a very kind-hearted, considerate, intelligent woman. Our friendship could very well be described more like “family”. We never actually spoke about it but we both knew we could count on each other for prayers, moral support, and advice. I will forever have that “void” in my life. Much love , God Bless.

My Grandmother was my very own Maya Angelou. You were truly God’s angel here on earth and now I know Grandma you have your wings. You are forever in my heart and I am very thankful for all of our time we shared together. I love you always and I am thankful for all of the lessons and traditions you taught me. I Love you Grandma , Your Shadow (JeMarke)
