Barbara Lund

Barbara Lund, eighty-seven years old, put up a valiant fight against dementia. She is survived by daughters Diana (son-in-law David) and Gia (son-in-law Patrick). She’d like to be remembered for her great writing skills and, to her credit, will have a memoir coming out posthumously. Barbara grew up in the Clearing neighborhood of Chicago, IL, about a mile from Midway Airport. She was the middle sister of three (survived by sister Marion) and had four brothers, one who died as a baby. She wrote about her grandmother’s death, “The Sweeping Sky over the sweeping prairie whisked my grandmother away.” Barbara, swept away from us far too soon, had a generous spirit and an extraordinary poetic talent. Her words will endure. And we are graced to read them, again and again.
