Loved Ones

Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die.

Barbara A. Clarke Bissonnette (Barb), 68, of Evergreen, CO peacefully passed away with her family by her side at Swedish Medical Center in Denver, CO on January 22, 2021.

Barb is survived by her loving husband, John Bissonette, her son Karl Schickel, wife Jen of Gypsum, CO, her son Tom Schickel, wife Sarah of Denver, CO, her daughter Miriah Clarke Postle and partner Jeremy Maddox of Thornton, CO;  her granddaughters Quinlan and Reese;  brothers Steven Clarke and David Clarke (deceased),  sister Sue Clarke and nieces, nephews and cousins.  Barb has dozens of lifelong friends across the country from N.Y. to FL to CO.

Barb was born on January 13th, 1953 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Clarke.  She graduated from high school in Dryden N.Y. and lived in N.Y. for many years eventually moving to Florida, where she met and married her husband John. Barb and John have been in Colorado for over 15 years and have been residents of Evergreen, CO since 2009. Barb had the kindest, loving personality and always cared for others before herself. She loved her husband, family, the outdoors, off-roading in her Jeep and living in the mountains. But most of all she loved spending time with her granddaughters who were the light of her world. Barb will be greatly missed.

There will be a burial in the spring at Green Hills Cemetery in Dryden, N.Y. as well as a yet to be selected location in CO.

Share your thoughts, prayers, stories and photos of Barb through the memorial website listed below. Details on a celebration of life to be held in the spring will be posted in the coming months.

I am heartbroken over this. She was one of my sister for life. We always told each other that we would be the two old ladies rocking in our chairs together and having some nice drinks. My love to the entire family. I'm so sorry for your loss and ours. She will forever be the sunshine in my life.

John, Karl & Jenn, Tom & Sarah, Mariah, Suzy, Quinlan & Reese, So very sorry for the passing of your beautiful Barbara. Oh so many memories of all the siblings from the Clarke & Schickel families on Ferguson Rd. hanging out together. Always loved Barb's spirit & laughter. Was very pleased to reconnect with Barb in Denver & on fb over the last bunch of years. At Quinlan's 1st birthday it was a pleasure meeting John & Mariah and visiting again with my wonderful nephews, Karl & Tom. And, Suzy it is so nice to know that you are in Denver too close to your family there. My husband John & I send love to all of you & look forward to seeing you all when this Covid thing is done. Hugs, Aggie Schickel Finn

I grew up with both Tom and Karl. They are close friends with my older brother and I was more or less their younger brother it seemed. I still feel this is my role. Once I moved to Colorado though in 2005 where they all lived, I got to know Miriah, Barb and John at family gathers at either Tom’s or Karl’s home. Barb was always an extremely wonderful person to speak to at these gatherings and always took interest in my life. What I was doing, where I’m living, if I’m dating anyone, have I been to different places that she recommends I check out, etc. She always seemed happy and content with her life. She was a staple to me that went along with the Schickel brothers as being a staple for me upon moving to this state. She will be missed...

Barb was always so lovingly appreciative of Miriah's Grandma Betty. They carried on a relationship right up until Betty left us, and I know that Betty valued it very much. Big hugs and appreciation for that. (And props to Mom for the fact that I Love Rock and Roll was Miriah's first favorite song!)
