It is with a surreal and heart-shattering sadness that we announce the passing of Ashley Lyn Farmer on Friday, March 7, 2025. It feels almost impossible to write a proper memorial for such an extraordinary personality and one-of-a-kind human being. Her exceptional wit, sense of humor, and infectious laugh were always a dynamic energy in any room. That is to say, Ashley’s presence never went unnoticed – she was not only a beautiful face, but a beautiful soul as well.
Ashley died far too young, but there is some comfort in knowing she lived quite a full life in her 45 short years. She was a daredevil and adventurer from the very beginning, and was able to have many wild and spontaneous experiences, both near and in far off corners of the world. Those who had the privilege of encountering life alongside her know that no interaction was ever dull or predictable. Many of us truly marveled at her uninhibited spirit. Hilarious and authentic to the end – we will all miss her integrity, compassion, generosity, strong will, loyalty, intelligence, and, of course, her assertive and unabashed honesty. There will certainly never be another Ashley Lyn Farmer.
Dear Ashley, we will love and miss you forever. We are so grateful you made it to spring, just like you had hoped. We will cherish the time we had with you and all of the resonant memories that we made. Until we meet again
Ashley was an extreme animal lover - her favorite being dogs. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Animal Refuge Foundation (ARF, Sherman, TX). There is a link embedded below. Thank you

Dear Ashley, I remember first meeting you at UTD. We immediately hit it off. You were a great friend and tent mate and we always had a blast driving to wherever the field trip was, Galveston to Hot Springs. You were an absolute blast to be around! I’ll miss your smile, blunt honesty, your infectious enthusiasm and laugh. I’ll cherish my memories of you. I won’t forget you my friend.

Zack and I met Ashley early one fateful morning in 2014 while walking our corgi Oslo. We had just moved into the Residence Inn in Boise Idaho. Oslo was immediately smitten by a little French Bulldog that belonged to Ashley and what started out as simple walks so our dogs could play together pursue their ever-blossoming romance, turned into one of the best friendships of our lives. Ashley lived in Idaho for less time than we did but we managed to keep in touch. Ashley was energetic, thoughtful, and fun. In our relatively short time knowing each other we managed to meet up in 5 different states around the country including Texas, Idaho, Illinois, Washington, and California. We went hiking, saw waterfalls and dinosaur footprints, did underground tours, food tours, bike tours, went to aquariums, a baseball game, shopped in various downtowns, went to the movies, played board games, and completed puzzles. She was always open to new experiences and never judged them until she had tried them first. She was also a great conversationalist; the type of person you could text or call whatever mood you were in. She was there if you wanted to wax poetic or just be silly. We had inside jokes and shared a similar taste in music. I learned a lot of lessons from Ashley. She taught me how to take each day as it comes, always greeting it with a smile but prepared to kick its ass if need be. She taught me the power of pivoting when life doesn't go exactly as planned and she taught me that being a pillar of support for your friends and those you love is more important than anything else. The final thing Ashley said to me over the phone is that people don't tell each other that we appreciate and love each other often enough. That we have all these people who mean so much to us but we rarely ever acknowledge it, so she told me that she loved me and I told her I love her too. Moving forward, I'll let the people in my life know how much I love them and appreciate them as often as I can because that was the last lesson Ashley taught me. Zack and I will spend the rest of our lives carrying your memory in our hearts. We miss you dearly. And yes, we love you Ashley. I love you, Will

Ashley was the best friend of my son, Elliot Atkinson, and I visited her several times with him. I cannot begin to express my appreciation for her loyalty to Elliot while he was going through a very sad time. I give her ALL the credit for helping him see the brighter picture in his life. She was a source of true strength and wisdom, and I know her friendship with him was truly unique and special. They enjoyed a very memorable and fun trip to England & Scotland in September 2023. I am amazed at the distance they covered while she was suffering from her medical condition!! As for me, Ashley helped me immensely with her expertise as an oil & gas landman. Her wise advice and work on my behalf was truly wonderful. Even though her time on earth was soon to end in March, she went to an arts & crafts store in December and handmade a special cactus lamp with multi-colored lights shining on it. Then, she mailed it to me to my great surprise!! I turn that cute light on every day in memory of Ashley as a reminder that her light will shine in my heart forever.

When a text message with her name popped up I was so excited as we hadn’t talked in a while. Hearing this news has me absolutely heartbroken. Ashley will always be one of my favorite people. We met in high school and were great friends for many years. I was drawn to her infectious laugh, quick wit, smile, and of course her beauty. It was always such a privilege to be one of her friends. When she popped up on social media a few years ago I could not have been more excited to reconnect with her. I jumped at the first chance I had to visit her back in Texas. It was like a day hadn’t passed. Not only was she the same amazing person I loved, she had grown into so much more. When covid hit we would FaceTime often for a happy hour. That hour usually stretched into many. We talked about any and everything. I always appreciated her fresh outlook and for challenging me. Even once she was diagnosed she always kept a positive outlook and had the energy to keep me on my toes during those conversations. It makes me sad to know I won’t get to see her again but I can’t help but smile and be happy for her after reading all of these beautiful comments and tributes knowing that she wasn’t just a great friend to me but that she touched and inspired so many others. Ashely was amazing in every possible way. I’ll think of her often will always be grateful for every minute that I got to spend with her. 🖤

Ashley is my older cousin, and I've known her my whole life. It's interesting growing up with an age gap of like 12 years or so because when you're young, that's a huge difference. But then once everyone becomes an adult, you really get to know each other a lot better. I don't know if I'll ever run across someone who's so receptive and interested in the discussions of how our minds work, what we can do to improve and be the best person we can be, and she had a lot to teach me through her findings in life and in study as well. I have a lot of respect for someone like her who's always willing to work hard to honor your earthly duties. Her appreciation of animals and her grind towards veganism, her desire to help people in need and give back in a way that she felt was needed of her. The crazy part I feel is to be so in tune with your own feelings, to be so realistic about the tragedies in the world around us, and all the while bringing light to everyone she encounters. If she was ever bringing negativity, it was always in a fun way and anyone who has spoken to her knows what I'm talking about. To share a quote from her, "Think about the person you'll be 3 months from now. What do you want that future you to be doing?" I enjoyed our conversations and I will continue to appreciate your wisdom.
