Arlene Amy Cisewski
July 16th, 1937 - June 26th, 2020
July 16th, 1937 - June 26th, 2020
Arlene Amy Monty was born in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, on July 16. 1937. She moved with her parents Howard and Doris (Nagley) Monty to Marenisco, Michigan. Arlene was an active student who participated in band, glee club, the school newpaper, and annual staff. She graduated in 1955.
While working in Ironwood, Michigan, Arlene met Eugene Donald Cisewski. They were married in Hurley, Wisconsin, on September 15, 1956 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Together they raised four children: Eugene A, Patti, Michael, and Paula. They lived in Ironwood, MI; Bemidji, MN; Cottage Grove, MN; Fargo, ND; Grand Forks, ND; Bloomington, MN; and Burnsville, MN.
Arlene was social and liked to keep busy. She enjoyed traveling to new places with her friends, and to visit family. Gene and Arlene spent some of the winter months traveling with friends to the Gulf to stay warm. Arlene also spent time with her friends going to church, concerts, and plays. The family spent many hours together at the lake home in Perham, MN, especially the annual 4th of July gathering.
During the last three years, Arlene struggled with her health and severe back pain. After several doctors and a surgery, it was discovered that she had stage 4 breast cancer. She began treatment in the spring of 2020. Months later, she contracted Covid 19 while recovering at a skilled care facility. Arlene died on June 26th, 2020.
Arlene is survived by her husband and children, her grandchildren Mickaela and Anton, and her five great-grandchildren: Stella, Joseph, Audrey, Michael, and Addison. Arlene has many cousins in the Milwaukee area with whom she remained close. Her only sibling, William Marshall Monty, passed away just months before she did.
Arlene can trace her Ancestry on the Nagley side all the way to the Mayflower.
Because of the Corona Virus, the family is planning a small, private graveside service at St. Henry Cemetery, Perham, MN, on September 26, 2020. She will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Arlene's honor to Black Visions Collective: https://www.blackvisionsmn.org/

Dear Gene, Paula, Patti, Gene, Kaela, and Anton, and the greatgrandkids, We loved Arlene, a special person who was always kind to us. She was a grandparent-partner to both of us! That's a unique relationship! Hearing about her death was horrible. Still so hard to believe. Her love for each of you was so obvious to us. We so wish you could have had her longer. We will remember her always. With love, Bob and Chris Lewis
